The news is not good for 82-year-old talkshow host and game show producer Merv Griffin. It is being reported that the TV legend is in grave condition after a return of prostate cancer.
Griffin was admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center back in July for a recurrence of the cancer, which he first battled in 1996. Various media outlets, such as Entertainment Tonight and KNBC, are reporting that the prognosis is not good and that Griffin is currently in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Griffin's representatives have yet to reply to press inquiries.
In addition to his career as talkshow host on the self-named The Merv Griffin Show, Griffin created both Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, which are still on the air today. In 1997 a Seinfeld episode spoofed the classic talkshow. In that episode, Kramer discovers the discarded remains of The Merv Griffin Show set and brings them over to his apartment. He then proceeds to do his own talkshow. It was one of the highlights of the 9th and last season of Seinfeld.

OH my, I didn't know this!!
I am 60 years old and all the people that I grew up watching are leaving this Earth and I can't stand the talk shows and guests of todays TV. All they do is hawk their wares and I don't know who anyone is anyway.
We lost the best... Johnny Carson, Jack Paar, Mike Douglas, Tom Snyder, Dinah Shore and now it looks like Merv Griffin.
Dick Cavett another great ole time host.
I am just sick about this...I have tears in my eyes...as my past is disappearing day by day and these new "stars" and technology is a world I don't know. How I long for things to be different.
Nothing happens without God's permission, but still I am human and I am so sad!
