Supergirl, meet Supergirl. That is sort of what will happen in episode six of the upcoming season of Smallville when Helen Slater, who played the woman of steel in the 1984 movie Supergirl, will guest star on The CW hit series confirms Sci Fi Wire.It was announced a few weeks ago that Smallville was adding the character of Supergirl to its show and that Laura Vandervoort was cast in the role. So what role will Slater play? Spoilers after the jump!
Sci Fi Wire reveals that Helen Slater will play the aunt of the show's Supergirl. Does this mean that Slater will play Lara, Clark's birth mother? No more information about Slater's character is available at this time.
It is not the first time an actor from a movie or television series revolving around Superman guest stars on Smallville. Christopher Reeve and Margo Kidder have both appeared on the show and Lois & Clark's Dean Cain will make an appearance this season's fourth episode.
Helen Slater's appearance on Smallville should air at the end of October or early November on The CW.

I love that these actors come on the the show - being a big fan of all the superman movies and shows (including the first one), it's very endearing and really brings it all together.

Also the actor who played Zod in The Superman 2 movie, Terrence Stamp has been the voice of Jor-El in the series.
