CBS greenlights a pair o' pilots

Who is ready for more new show news? Good to hear.

Mark Gordon, executive producer of Grey's Anatomy, has just been given the go by CBS to produce another hour-long medical drama with director Kasi Lemmons. It follows the life of a Bellvue psychiatric neurologist who also serves as a crisis manager. But guess which calm, cool professional has a chaotic life at home?

Lemmons, whose Don Cheadle-headlined Talk to Me is winning rave reviews, will direct, writer and produce the pilot.

The second show the Eye network has put into development is currently titled Worst Week. The British-based show will be produced by Marc Buckland with Scrubs' Matt Tarses as writer. It seems to be a Meet the Parents-esqe comedy about a soon-to-be-wed couple dealing with the ancient problem of the dreaded in-laws.

The UK version literally dealt with a single week of trouble per season -- or series as they say across the pond. Having a seven episode season may work in jolly ol' England, but US networks usually bank on a minimum of 13 or more episodes. It will be interesting how they deal with this discrepancy when creating the stateside version.
