(S08E14) In case you can't make it out in the screencap above, the banner reads, "We heart Nick! Amber & Eric are liars. LNC (late night crew) is the nerd herd."
This banner flew across the sky during the HoH competition and caused quite a bit of commotion among the house guests in tonight's episode.
In all honesty, I'm absolutely flabbergasted by this turn of events and in a way it really pisses me off. How pathetic do you have to be to go through the trouble of hiring a biplane to try and influence the results of a reality show?
If I were going to rank this move on a "someone-needs-to-get-a-life-o-meter" it would rest somewhere above sending yourself flowers on Valentine's Day and below purchasing a life-size animatronic doll of the opposite gender - but just barely.
The thing is, with the exception of the "hearting Nick" portion of the banner, I completely agree with statements on the banner.
Despite that and regardless of how I feel about Eric or Amber, I would never try and influence the dynamics of the Big Brother house. Not only was it stupid - it was completely self-serving and unfair to the viewing audience.
In addition, Eric was forced into the vermin role. To attempt to penalize him for the way he's playing the game is completely indefensible.
I would very much like to punch the face of the party responsible for sending the biplane banner, especially if that party ends up being the Big Brother producers!
If I find out that Big Brother was responsible for this sequence of events, I will personally squat on Jon De Mol's front porch and give him a visual representation of what I think about him. Sure, the act would become the de facto highest level on the aforementioned get-a-life-o-meter but it's a sacrifice I'm more than willing to make.
PoV Competition - Continued
I have a feeling a lot of the loyal readers of this recap also read Jackie's livefeed recaps and already knew who won the HoH competition.
I've been able to fight the temptation all season long and was thankfully completely in the dark on the results.
It played out like this:
- Amber fell after six minutes.
- Eric was disqualified after nine minutes for making his body parallel with the bar which was against the rules.
- Jameka gave up at the 10 minute mark. She was "fathomed" at how long everyone else stayed on the perch, whatever the hell that meant.
- Around this time the biplane flew past which called Eric and Amber out on their deceptiveness.
- Zach fell off 32 minutes into the competition. I honestly forgot Zach was still in the house.
- Jameka hollers to Dick, "ED, you're an inspiration to all smokers!" This would have made more sense if he was performing some type of sustained aerobic activity and not hanging from a friggin' perch. Jameka is starting to bug me. It also ended up hexing Dick because he bit the dust at the 44 minute mark.
- Amber yells out, "Come on Daniele, do it for Nick!" This wailing banshee needs to get gone as well. As much as I hate the whole banner situation, at least Amber was called out as a liar on it.
- Jessica slipped off at the 59 minute mark.
- At this point it was down to Jen, Kail, and Daniele. Dick is out the competition and decides to utilize his skills of torment by yelling out, "Kail you're an inspiration to Christians everywhere. Lie, cheat, and back stab." Jameka thinks bringing up Christianity is way off base. Never mind that God made her defend Jen a week ago.
- In a cut scene, Daniele mentions that she doesn't know if her dad's strategy is working but it makes him happy. This just validates my calling Dick a sadist last week.
- Jen mentions that she "almost just wants to get off so she can see Daniele's letter from her boyfriend and all her pictures." She says this because she thinks Daniele is wrong for "cheating" on her boyfriend. As much as I like Daniele, I think Jen kind of has a point with her comment. Despite that, it sets off a maelstrom and a slew of negativity flies from the peanut gallery in defense of Daniele. Eric ends up defending Daniele the most fervently, an obvious move of desperation since he realizes that thanks to the banner, there is now a ginormous target painted across his little, weasel-like face.
- Jen gets a charley horse and falls off at 1 hour and 31 minutes into the competition.
- Daniele and Kail finally strike up a deal where Daniele promises Kail that she won't send her home should Kail get off the perch and give her the HoH. Kail obliges and Daniele is the new head of household at the 1 hour and 36 minute mark. I was absolutely "fathomed" that they stayed up so long.

After the drama of the HoH competition finished playing out Daniele and Daddy Evel shared a moment where Dick repeatedly expressed how proud and happy he was that Daniele won HoH.
He pointed out that Daniele has won two PoV competitions and now one HoH competition. It's starting to look like we've stumbled upon an heir apparent to Janelle - the original badass Big Brother competitor.
Although Daniele is in a happy place, the victory is bitter sweet because she's 100% sure someone is trying to set her up. She immediately tries to determine who cast the second vote in favor of keeping Nick in the house during the last Eviction Ceremony.
Her own intuition has pointed her to Eric as the culprit. The biplane and its message ended up being the camel that broke the straws back. Both she and her dad say that they know Eric cast the contrarian votes against Kail and Nick. Eric is doomed.
America's Player - Pick Eric's Partner

This America's player thing has kind of been a mixed bag this season, hasn't it? If America's not picking some inane task for Eric to accomplish, they've ended putting him in a compromising position by making him vote to evict people in direct conflict with the consensus of his alliance.
This week America will be choosing which of the house mates Eric will promise to take to the final two should he make it that far. Although America will be picking who he takes, Eric will ultimately decide if he wants to adhere to that promise.
So, America is voting on an event that may or may not happen, and the choice they end up making may or may not be adhered to by America's Player?
Please, please, please kill this America's player thing. It was interesting for a while, and it had the potential to be entertaining, but I've come to the point where I'm tired of it.
This week America also voted to have Eric target Jen as the person to be evicted. Eric approached his alliance about getting rid of Jen, but it ended up turning into a huge argument between Dick and Eric where the two of them had a violent screaming match. The LNC entente is on the verge of breaking down ladies and gentlemen. Things are about to get nasty.
Nomination Ceremony

Daniele pulls Dustin pulls Eric pulls Jameka pulls Amber pulls Dick pulls Jessica pulls Zach.
Jen and Kail are nominated for a back breaking third week in a row, but Daniele admits that neither of them are her true target this go around.
What are Daniele's true intentions? Who will Dick verbally skewer next week? Can Kail become any more useless? What menial event will cause Amber to have a physical break down? Will Eric mend his ruptured relationship with LNC? What asinine phrase will Jameka utter next? How effortlessly will Zach blend into the background? Will Dustin wear a V-neck shirt that extends all the way down to his navel? Will Jessica's nasally speaking voice cause one of the house guest's eardrums to explode?
All this and more will be revealed come Tuesday. See you then.

Thanks for the SPOILER WARNING Viv. You rock.
In any case, EVERY SINGLE PERSON in that house have lied to someone about something. It's just how it is. For Eric, most of his lies were due to how this season has been structured i.e. beyond his control. So yes, I'm pissed at the people responsibile for the banner. But at least it's Eric who's America's Player. Could you just imagine if the producers picked Amber or Dick? It would've been awful.
Down with the Dicks!

So Daniele promised Kail that if Kail gave up on the HOH competition, Daniele wouldn't send her home. Then the very next thing Daniele did was, yes, nominate Kail for eviction.
I'd point out that this is the most dishonest thing anyone in the house has done yet, if I didn't think it would cause Dick to drive to my house and scream at me.

I like the plane banner stunt. It was a fun way for people to interact with the show, to break the hermetic seal on the house. We boo at ballgames to try to throw off opposing pitchers; this was in the same spirit. I don't see why JJ Hawkins finds it so objectionable.

I think people took the America's Player game changer the wrong way. People voted for who they wanted out of the house, but they should have been voting to help Eric. America's Player was meant to win by America's strategy, not act as someone made to kick out the less popular people and go against his alliance.
Eric will recover (hopefully) since he seems to be strong with Jameka and Jessica. Especially Jessica, who I hope gets voted as the person he can choose to stick with until the end. They seem good together.

Look at the banner as just another way for the public to interact with the show. We're already doing the America's Player thing - and that's not working out so well - so why not send a banner. Plus, I thought the producers were always on alert and made the hamsters scurry inside whenever there was a plane flying over. They said previously even if it was during an endurance competition, they would call the hamsters into the house, which makes me almost want to believe that the producers had some hand in the banner. I'm glad it exposed Amber, that self-righteous twit! How quickly she forgets that she LIED directly to Nick's face, then had the nerve to cry about his eviction, and continues to believe she had no part in what happened to him - when SHE was the very first one to bring up his name in relation to the phantom vote for Kail. She needs to be gone sooner rather than later. As for Eric, yeah, it's not fair for fans to call him out because he's playing the game the producers want him to play so it's not his fault he had to cast those two votes. I hope, though, that he has to tell Dick or Daniele that he's taking them to final two! Eric's problem now is going to be of his own making because he's acting anything but innocent. The boy needs to calm down because he's only drawing more attention to himself with his little meltdowns with Jen and Dick. But I wouldn't mind seeing his weasel face leave since he was somewhat responsible for Nick's eviction. It's not like he wanted Nick to stay.
And to Big Ted - Daniele told Kail she had to put her on the block this week but she swore Kail would not go home. So Daniele didn't lie to her at all when the nominations were announced.

I originally thought that the America's Player thing was a good idea. But I changed my mind when I found out that Eric HAD TO vote the way America told him to. The poor guy never stood a chance. Think about it this way. Most of America watches the show through CBS. That means that they watch the Tuesday show and decide who Eric votes for. So they are voting this way without having all the information. In one day the entire situation could change and even if the voting public was smart enough to vote strategically, rather than as a popularity contest, there is no way they could make a real informed vote. They should have given Eric the option to not do as America tells him and he would forfeit the money he would receive for completing his task.

If Eric does get voted outed, because Dani "figured" him out-- then I hope he is sent back into the house as a regular contestant. Since he was screwed over by some fan upset Eric didn't follow his tasks exactly how they want-- they just might of screwed us the viewers at a vote on the jury.
And for everyone who thinks Daniele knew about Eric before the banner, that seems like BS. She may of thought he was shady but a banner saying he's a liar paints a bulls eye.
And whoever sent this banner-- so Nick is hot, okay yes we know, great body. But comeone-- what did he add to the game. He spent 3 weeks laying on the floor next to Dani whispering about nothing. He was a waste.
my hopes for final 3 Eric, Jess and Dustin with Jen thrown in as a fourth.

I am glad someone posted a link to your site on BB message boards! There are so many theories its getting crazy.
Let me ask you thoughts on a few questions...
BB is a game show played out on Reality TV. Wouldn't they be bound to disclose their plans, scheduled double evictions weeks, Games that would be played, slop weeks, etc. to a gaming commision? It sounds like you also think BB producers could have sent the banner so if they did, they would have had to file it no?
Why can't BB/CBS simply block the view by stretching a tarp over the back yard? How difficult is that? They can also have smoke machines, water streams, or so many other methods of blocking the area over the yard. Then they only need to block the area without disrupting the the guests. IF this is truely an experiement of people secluded from the outside world, then they are doing a poor job of keeping them shielded.
The banners have been there every season but one thing that BB has never realy show them during a primetime showing. Today they did, so I have to assume it was to encourage more banners from idiots who have too much money or they know that it was sent by one of the previous cast members trying to get another 5 minutes of fameand they want to tie it back to the show. Erika is hosting housecalls next week and I can guarantee Mike or Will are going to be asked to go into the house as the "special guests" for the season.
I don't belive there is a nerd herd here because from day one I have watched the BBAD and I can tell you even when they know we are watching, they can't come up with anything to do that is entertaining!! - They have had more boring times than funny since day one. Eric is a dork but still is the person selected as AP and I am fine with that. He's tried to do the tasks but lets just say that the tasks are all STUPID! The Mustard thing was the their best attempt but everything else is just not interesting enough to even have the option of an AP. Why not let us suggest the act. They can censor the ones that are not airable.
I just hate that everyone on those boards are freaking out and exploding the situation especially after Nick left. If Nick had made it to the finals, he probably would have won the game so why wouldn't you vote him out? Jen won't win and well, you pretty much nailed everyone's description above. Can you remind people to focus on the game and not the way we feel about the people?
My selection for best person to leave this week is Kail. Next week is Dustin or Dick. Will it be boring to watch if they are gone? Yes. Do I care? No! It would be how I would play the game if I were in the house!

Hey! I saw the most messed up thing tonight and I don't know if it was a dream or what really happenned. I am pretty sure this did occur. I was flipping channels and I was on Showtime and it was Eric and Jessica sitting there talking and just like someone said on this board. Eric was working way to hard to defend himself, when we all know he is the liar. We know that but nobody else does - well anyone to try to make sure Jessica was going to vote for him to stay. He tells her this story or truth about Amber that was just so out there. It was a secret in normal life you would of just forgotten about it b/c it was just so over the top. Did anyone see it and know what I am talking about. I don't want to repeat it b/c it was a secret that could ruin Amber's life for real. If this got out this could really make the poor girl cry for real. Well, I think it might of gotten out already but I am not going to do it.
Unless, someone can confirm it did happen. Eric told Jessica Amber had 4 abortions - 2 were real and 2 were fakes she just told her boyfriend so they would stop fighting. Then he said she was addicted to speed. Then he said that she is faking her crying, so she can win the whole thing. Did anyone else see this?

Luisgfs, I think BB *had* to show the plane and banner, because it affected the game SO much and the HGs were talking about it. Normally they wouldn't show it, but since this one had such an affect on the "narrative" of the game, they had to. I don't think it was encouragement for future foolery.

I haven't watched this show since season one or two (the one with Evil Dr. Will, which I think was season two). Even then, the planes were flying overhead with messages. Either they stopped in the intervening years or they kept on going, and CBS has decided it's better for the mental health of the houseguests to let them see sky even if the planes' messages alter their "storylines." From what I remember from that long-ago season, the producers attempted to lure the houseguests inside for competitions or announcements whenever planes flew overhead, but they were largely unsuccessful.

Hello, am I the only one that thinks CBS should remove Evel??? He's verbally abusive to anyone who ticks him off. He's bomb waiting to explode! I don't agree with what Jen has said, but she's really controling her temper with Evel. Especially after the tea over the head. I admire Jamake she was really calm when Evel was bashing Christians....Props to Jamake!!

I just signed up for the live video feeds on a free trial at http://www.big-brother-8-live.com/ It lets me have the feeds for 14 days before I get charged... pretty cool to get them for free.
I still think it was a mistake for Nick to get voted out and I also think "EVIL" should have been kicked off the show for his outburst where he violently threw that liquid onto another human being. Who does that? Seriously, he should get kicked out.
