Egad, it's like a real-life telenovela in Los Angeles.
Here's what happened last month: Mirthala Salinas, a reporter for Telemundo station KVEA, Channel 52 in Los Angeles was suspended for two months after an investigation revealed she had been having an affair with Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Salinas herself, previous to the affair being exposed, reported the separation of Villaraigosa and his wife on the air. She was suspended for violating "conflict of interest" policies.
Other employees of the station were also reprimanded, including news director Al Corral, and Ibra Morales, president of Telemundo stations. General manager Manuel Abud was removed from his position and will be transferred elsewhere.
I won't pretend to know the politics of a particular news station, but a two-month suspension seems like a rather light punishment for sleeping with the mayor. Is there some kind of hierarchy in place I'm not aware of? For example, if she had slept with the manager of the water treatment plant, would she have only received a two week suspension? Someone let me know, because if I ever decide to get into TV news I want to know whom I can and can't make love to.

I think you have to divide the number of times they actually slept together by 60 (60 days in 2 months roughly) minus the number of times she actually enjoyed it and then times that by the amount of money she will receive in the lawsuit.

Strange, Bill didn't sacrifice any paycheck. In fact, he wants to come back as the "First Laddie."

Uhm, why exactly should she be punished more for adultery? I can certainly see her being reprimanded for reporting on the mayor's marital difficulties while she was the main cause of them, but you seem to be implying that she should be punished for the case of adultery itself. That seems ridiculous. We're all adults here, and if she can still perform her job effectively, I don't see why she should be fired or anything.
