Yeah, so do I.
Were you watching The View the other day and wondering why they announced Whoopi was joining the gang but didn't say anything at all about Sherri Shepherd? TV Guide's Michael Ausiello says it's because she wants a lot more money than ABC wants to pay her. In fact, she wants to make at least what Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck are making. ABC is reportedly looking at other celebs, including Kathy Griffin and Jacquie Reid from CNN.
This is the same woman who pretty much no one even knew until she started to guest host on The View, right? And the same woman who doesn't believe in evolution? Yeah, I thought so.

I thought it was weird that Whoopi was a lock and sudeenly they were looking for someone else besides Shepard.
I'd never heard of her at all before this week so I don't know why she thought she had that much leverage. She was a newbie she should have known better than to demand the same pay rate as the show's full time veterans. It's a quick way to lose a gig.

Didn't she also say on her first guest spot on The View that she was going through a divorce with her husband who had a child with a woman he was cheating with? She ran him down, making statements of murdering him and his new girlfriend. Later on she comes back to The View and now she's back with him and all is good. Kinda makes you think she isn't the "strong black woman" she portrays. Not to mention she doesn't believe in evolution. It's ok to believe in religion but common sense should win out. The View shouldn't allow her back on the show and let her fall back into obscurity where she was to begin with.

She and Kathy Griffin are both L.A. based. It would take a lot of money to support homes on both coast. Kathy is super hot right now I couldn't in a million years see her leaving the house she loves so much and stop touring. She is playing Madison Square Garden next Jan. She is to relevant to be a host on that show.

Well, based on these posts, she appears to be memorable. That's all the gabfest known as The View is good for, so, I guess she deserves it on that merit.
Regarding her visibility before The View is concerned: Joy Behar and Elizabeth Hasselbeck were't exactly household names before the show either, so I guess she deverves it on that merit too.
Are there any other reasons she should not get what the other non-star co-hosts are making?

ABC should keep the chair vacated by Star Jones open and continue to have a celebrity guest host. It keeps the discussion lively and interesting.
As to Elisabeth, they should bring in a good conservative guest host (I know that is an oxymoron, but hey) while she is out on maternity leave. Although I totally and completely disagree with that warped right-wing belief system, it does make the show fun to have someone that screwy.

I'd like to know what your implying by asking if this is the person who doesn't believe in evolution? Who decided that if a person doesn't believe in evolution that makes them odd or not good enough to host a tv show with a bunch of women yaking for an hour?

Not believing in evolution most definitely makes someone odd. I think that is listed as an example for "odd" in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Whether it makes her unqualified to host the View is another matter, but yea, she meets the qualification of an odd duck.
As far as her requested salary, she has no name recognition, and she would be a new host. That alone should make her start out with a much lower salary than the veterans (this is assuming that the veterans started out on the View with a smaller salary; if not, that is another matter).

Gordy,
You make some good points, but consider this - joy behar and company are veterans/stars of the show. When the show started, I'm sure there salaries were much, much lower.
Sherri is not a household name, so why should she be paid star money if she's not one.
I personally think the show needs more diversity to represent a latina viewpoint.

I'm don't know if not believing in evolution makes someone odd, but it sure as does makes them stupid.

I don't know about some of these ignorant comments about someone being stupid or odd because they don't believe in evolution, but quite frankly, what does that have to do with hosting a show?
Isn't The View a show about differing viewpoints?

Has anyone noticed that people who don't believe in evolution are the least evolved people?
Something to think about.

I like the idea of keeping the 5th chair empty and using guest co-host all season. As much as I liked Rosie and I'm looking forward to Whoopie... I also liked the rotating various point of views others brought in.
If not, can't they go look at Ricki Lake again? I really enjoyed her when she was guest hosting.

I knew Sherri from Less Than Perfect. She was great on there.
I don't see why she should make less than Joy and the idiot, when she'd be a panel member just like they are. It only makes sense that she'd make an equal amount, especially since she'd be moving to NYC just for the job.
Here's an idea. Can they fire Elisabitch and bring on both Sherri and Kathy Griffin? That would be a show I'd watch.

The fact that Goldberg defended this sick man who took pleasure in cruelty to dogs is disgusting, and her mentioning he is from the deep south....Virginia is NOT the deep south and we do not condone animal abuse in any case. I will never watch The View,,I heard her remarks on Tucker Carlson's show. She is disgusting and so is the other one coming in..time for Joy and Elisabeth to get off that show and leave Barbara to her black pals. She treated Star in a nasty way and she got what she deserved when Star told them off on the air. Joy and Elisabeth get the hell out of there...that show will not last.

ABC Needs to Fire Whoopi Immediately !!! It seems everyone has conveniently forgotten that several years ago Whoopi Goldberg totally TRASHED the National Anthem on an HBO special by inserting profanities (like M_____F____) nearly every other word throughout the song. In my opinion, what Don Imus did pales in comparison. ABC needs to look into this and after reviewing the HBO Special for themselves, they need to immediately fire Whoopi from her new position on The View. Honestly, I don’t think ABC has enough courage to do so.

I am wondering why the question of whether Sherri believes in evolution or not has any part of if she will do a good job on the view. This, to me, is a person opinion that is not even note worthy. As for it making her odd and or stupid is not the issue. I think giving someone a chance to do their job and then make comment is the thing to do.
