Well it's about frickin' time. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is finally coming to DVD and the two-disc set will have every single minute of inappropriate humor from the first two seasons.
It'll be released on September 4th, right before the third season premieres. While hardcore fans like myself have taken advantage of the show being offered on iTunes, this still comes as great news. I think the one thing that bugs me is that it took this long.
I mean... there's only 17 episodes to date. Not a lot of material. If anything, Danny DeVito's addition to the show just makes it more marketable I guess. Just look at the cover art, emblazoned with his shiny bald head. I'm nitpicking though. This is still good stuff and to celebrate, I'm posting the lyrics to Charlie's America Song. Sing along!
I'm gonna rise up/ I'm gonna kick a little ass/ I'm gonna kick some ass in the U.S.A./ I'm gonna climb a mountain/ I'm gonna sew a flag/ I'm gonna fly on an eagle/ I'm gonna kick some butt/ I'm gonna drive big trucks/ I'm gonna rule this world/ I'm gonna kick some ass/ I'm gonna rise up/ Gonna kick a little ass/ Rock on flyin' eagle!

Seasons 1 & 2 are only two discs?
Each episode is 45 minutes... assume 300 minutes per disc (based on Sanford and Son DVDs)...
Is it really only 13 episodes?

I just checked, and according to Wikipedia, it's a three-disc set.

Actually Eric, each episode is only around 22 to 23 minutes. It's a sitcom. According to Amazon, it's only a two disc set. 9 episodes on one disc and 8 on the second one sounds reasonable to me.

It irks me that Danny Divito's head is bigger than the rest. Yeah, he was funny, but I enjoyed season one just as much (if not more) and he wasn't in it. Just sayin'.

Since there are so few episodes, it would have been pointless to release separate season 1 and 2 DVDs. Well, perhaps not pointless, but a poor value for fans certainly. And DVD release of the previous season is often pegged to the start of the new season, and the series switched from summer to fall premiere. So I'm mystified at why you're bugged; this is the earliest I would expect to see DVDs.

I don't really like the show - and I usually watch everything that remotely resembles a sitcom. I saw 9 episodes and it all felt just "meh" nothing more. The jokes aren't particularly funny and I understand a bit why it took ages to get this into a DVD set. Didn't really seem necessary. Even "My Boys" is more entertaining than this...

I LOVE this show. "Charlie gets molested" is probably my favorite episode. I make everyone who hasn't seen the show watch it on my ipod.
I agree about the thing with Danny Devito's giant head. It sucks, but maybe more people will look into the show.
You know that phrase "it's so wrong, but it feels so right..." That's kind of what this show is like.

This set would be perfect if they could include the pilot they submitted to get the show on the air.

Best news of the day. This show is second to only Arrested Development as far as "underrated comedies watched by next to no one" goes.
My Boys, better than this? HA! That's comedy gold.

Have you guys seen the new commercial for the upcoming season? It's a takeoff of the Mac/PC ads and it's definitely done in IASIP style, to say the least.

Season 1 was an instant classic.
I think bringing DeVito in for the second season was a mistake, though casting Anne Archer as his wife was awesome.
I love the new ad. "Can I get a bucket?"

Bash are you crazy? Sunny is brilliant. It seems crude but I'm betting a lot of the jokes go right over your head. This is easily the funniest show on television. Sunny fans, heres a partial episode list for season three I found on Wikipedia:
"Dennis Gets a Puppy"
"Mac and Dee Take Back the Streets"
"The Gang finds a Dumpster Baby"
"Mac is a Serial Killer"
"The Gang gets Held Hostage"
"Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire"
"Dennis Looks Like a Sex Offender"
"The Gang Gets Stockholm Syndrome"
"The Gang Solves the North Korea Situation"
"The Gang Gets Invincible"
"The Gang Gets Whacked"
I'm pretty sure this season is 15 episodes so I know there are a few missing from the Wikipedia list. One of the early rumors was that one them would be called "The Gang Starts a Sweatshop" though they may have changed it. I really, really can't wait. I've seen the teaser for "The Gang finds a Dumpster Baby" It looks hillarious.
