If the comic is anything like the TV show (formulaic and pointless) then I wouldn't bother. Who knew there was even a comic anyway? I think I made it to about episode 3 of season 1 and realized the TV show was not worth watching.

Ideally, I would like to see a column in which comic books based on TV properties are reviewed (not just Buffy). The problem I see here, and what another "cool" site has been doing, is that it appears the Buffy comic is being given special fanboy/girl treatment.

And I speak as someone who faithfully watched all seasons of Buffy and Angel.

My only problem with your reviews is I pre-order my copy and I didn't pay for the fastest, most expensive, means of delivery. So your review comes out days before I get it and I don't want to read it until I read the issue. By the time I do all that, I don't want to dig up your review to comment because I know it's buried and no one is really reading it anymore.... does that make sense? So I would suggest waiting a week or so before making your review to give us time to get it and read it first.

I would say skip it. No matter what Wheedon says, a comic is not a season. However, kudos for creativity in maintaining buffy cache. Although I skipped season 7, I never liked the buffy comics in terms of writing or art, it always seemed weaker than the series. Plus, regarding S8, I just don't feel he'll fully explore the Buffy-verse in ink as well as he did on celluliod. Anyhoo, since he can't include Angel or Spike due to licensing agreements, I think that dilutes the plot possibilities even further -

On a side note, I know you're TvSquad, but, good idea F, I wouldn't mind seeing a ComicSquad either :)

@Derek - I often just tell people the story of Season 1, then suggest they start watching at Season 2, which is orders of magnitudes better than S1. Then once they realize it really is worth watching, they go back and fill in the details by watching Season 1.
But I can fully understand why someone would be turned off by the show after watching only a few episodes of, or even all of Season 1.

Yes review it. There are still alot of fans out there who love the whole "Buffy-verse" and think Joss Whedon is one of the best writers out there. My wife reads the new Buffy comic books but i don't and just sort of play catch up by reading your review.

that said, the comic is really nothing compared to the real thing... and this IS a TV site, not a comic book site.

Considering how few stories you guys are posting during the summer, it sounds more like you're trying to do even less work. More content is GOOD. Keep reviewing the comic.

I'd also like to see reviews of the Gargoyles comic, and the probable Veronica Mars comic.

I watched the series in re-runs and got hooked.

I buy the comic via online and it arrives after your review usually.

I still would like to see your review as it is as enjoyable as reading a TV show review to me.

And perhaps it will encourage others to support the comic and who know increase interest in Buffyverse in general.
