Great episode. HBO quality show in basic cable.

(Of course, HBO is a little off their game these days, with the exception of 'Entourage')

This is probably the best show on TV right now. Glenn Close is amazing. And the casting of Ted Danson as Frobisher is absolutely brilliant.

Any speculation on the Joe Cocker reference in the title? She Came In Through The Bathroom Window?

Callous, Everybody lies-- I think Patty might be FX's Dr. House. I don't think Ellen is David's murderer, that would be too easy. And that would waste Patty's foreshadowing, everybody has secrets. That might be why Ellen didn't call for her when she was in holding with the detectives.

I am intrigued by the story and how Ellen gets to the point where she is the person of interest in the murder of her fiance. Ted Danson is great thus far and is stealing the show IMO.

But, the manipulation and stroking that Glenn Close is doing to Ellen and Katie is just too over the top. She pulls strings to get a great apartment (at a great deal) for someone who has worked a week for her. She plays Katie with calling her a liar, later getting some of the true story and then gives her a puppy! I am beginning to wonder if Glenn Close's character is channeling her role from Fatal Attraction.

Oh this show is juicy nasty goodness! It's so "The Firm" in manipulation. The writers have already delved deeper into characterization than most shows do in 5 seasons. I can't wait to see which way they tug us next.

Ted Danson really is great in this show. And btw, the guy playing Greg is Peter Facinelli, who's not a huge star or anything, but too famous to play just a throwaway part... he'll be very significant in whatever's going on.

She Came In Through The Bathroom Window?

Well it seems like she went out through the bathroom window because the pigeon was able to fly in whereas before there was a screen when they were looking at the apartment. Also the police said the door was chained.

Katie and Greg seem very suspicious to me. There could be some big twisted conspiracy going on behind the scenes that involves David too.

I love this show. The 2 best shows on TV now are this and Kill Point. And there is no other drama in the fall season, except for maybe Heroes that is as good.

Also, did anyone notice that the guy giving Ellen the apartment was the guy Tom paid to dig up dirt on Ellen and her fiance?

I also think the older lawyer from the other firm (Nye?) knows something about Patty other than just from reputation. Maybe she worked at his firm, or he is her father or something. I also don't think Ellen killed her fiance because when she is in police custody the older lawyer asks why she didn't call Patty(during previews of upcoming episodes). If Ellen had killed her fiance she would call Patty, Hewes & Associates has to have some top notch defense attorney. She either thinks or knows Patty had something to do with this.

I agree that Ted Danson is sort of stealing the show. It's hard to believe that Sam Madison could have come this far.

I agree with you Jonathan, how does FX do it? They're cranking out quality show afer quality show.

The broadcast networks had better watch out. These cable shows are outstanding: Rescue Me, The Closer, The Riches, Nip/Tuck, and more I can't think of at the moment. National Bingo Night is just a joke.

Damages has me completely glued to my TV. Glen Close is outstanding. Ted Danson blows me away. Who knew he had these kind of performances in him. I'll bet he was thrilled that "Help Me Hlp You" was cancelled.

Jim: Frobisher's lawyer said "Jesus, Mary and Joe Cocker" when the restaurant-owner chick busted into his office to deliver the signed confidentiality agreement.

This show sort of reminds me of "Reunion" that was on Fox a couple of years ago, but the execution is WAAAAY better.

Also, the previews make it look like Frobisher kidnapped Patty's son and sent her a little souvenir (like a finger maybe) to let her know about it.

This show is absolutely amazing, and Ted Danson is far better than any role I have seen him in. The look on Frobisher's face right after he called the guy to tell him to put the murder in motion, it was priceless. You could tell through the haze of the cocaine, adrenaline, and Viagra, he realized what he had just done, and he wanted to take it back (IMHO), but he couldn't. Split second decision that he couldn't revoke. Amazing.

Wow, I must say that this episode impressed me immensely.

I was really thinking that Katie was going to be killed, but then I realized it was too obvious. You're right, also; Arthur Frobrisher is a love-hate person--I think one side of me says "Hey, it's Ted Danson, who can go wrong?" and then another side said that he's evil and menacing; it'll be interesting to see potential Patty-Arthur confrontations in the future.

As for Ellen, I'm quickly losing respect for her. Life is looking up for her what with a new and humongous crib, her fiancee, the huge paychecks, but the emotional damage that her sister is experiencing and the fact that EVERYONE is screaming around her telling her that it's hard to escape Patty. Why stay with Patty? That's one thing I don't understand.

As for the promo for next week, I wanted to know two things (which was primarily why I wrote here):

1:: Who is Katie having sex with? Is that Patty's son?

2:: Does this package that was being sent around until it reached Patty come AFTER or BEFORE the murder of Ellen's fiancee? Could it be, if after, one of the two Statue of Liberty gifts they received; what else?

RE tom being in on the firing. With all due respect, Toomey, you are misremembering the conversation between Tom and Uncle Pete. It was Pete who thought Tom had actually been sacked, until Tom contacted him, not vice versa. The whole firing in front of Ellen was totally orchestrated. If Tom did not know he was fired, why did he lie to Ellen in the horse arena when she asked Tom if Patti knew about her relationship with Katie before she was fired?

Rewatch the premier episdoe with the captions on, you will understand better the conversation between Uncle Pete and Tom.

Why stay with Patty?

Becasue she is a hell of a lawyer that she can learn a lot from. Even her mentor encouraged her to stay. I don't think anyone (except maybe Tom) realizes how evil Patty really is. Sorry, once you put a contract out on a dog who did nothing to you, you have come pretty close to rock bottom morally.

First, did anyone else see that moment at the murder scene as a wink at "Planet of the Apes"? We were looking out from behind Liberty's crown without knowing what we were looking at, just like at the end of that movie (the original, of course).

And who are we supposed to believe hired the guy who was following Katie? She obviously thought it was Frobisher, and it could've been the hit job he ordered. But it also could've been someone working for Patty, couldn't it? To cut her, not kill her, and scare her into coming clean with the whole story.

Ted Danson is fantastic, maybe even playing more layers than Glenn Close. I'm also amazed at how much Phillip Bosco (the older lawyer who is advising Ellen) can do with his very few minutes of screen time. I wish he had a bigger role--he's another acting giant.
