Here's the lineup for Masters of Science Fiction

Terry O'QuinnRich told you a year ago about ABC's new anthology series Masters of Science Fiction. It starts on Saturday, August 4 at 8pm. This is great news. We need an anthology series like this, even if it's just a series of specials and not a permanent weekly show.

There will be four episodes altogether, at least for this first go around. I'm sure ABC will make more if there's an audience for it. There are some great names involved, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Keith will be reviewing the show starting August 4. Full schedule and details after the jump.

  • August 4: "A Clean Escape." Judy Davis stars as a psychiatrist who tries to help Sam Waterston recover his memory. Written by Sam Egan (from the John Kessel short story) and directed by Mark Rydell.

  • August 11: "The Awakening." Lost's Terry O'Quinn and Law and Order's Elizabeth Rohm star in this episode about soldiers finding an injured non-human in Iraq. Written and directed by Michael Petroni (based on a short story by Howard Fast).

  • August 18: "Jerry Was A Wise Man." Malcolm McDowell and Men In Trees star Anne Heche star as a rich couple who buy an anthropoid named Jerry. Not really sure what an anthropoid is, but it's written and directed by Michael Tolkein (from a Robert Heinlein short story).

  • August 25: "The Discarded." Brian Dennehy and Desperate Housewives star James Denton star in this story about minorities ordered to drift forever in outer space. Written by Harlan Ellison and directed by Star Trek's Jonathan Frakes.
