By the grace of the fire marshall, I just squeezed into the second half of the Heroes' panel at Comic-Con. I'll have a report up later, but in the meantime, big news, kids. Kevin Smith has signed to write and direct the first episode of Heroes: Origins. It will air in April. Each episode will have a different auteur at its helm, and yes, Smith is the first up. He promises to bring us the story of the two gay heroes. "The Japanese dudes are gay, right?" He was kidding.

Wait what is Heroes: Origins? Is it supposed to be some web-based show for the summer?

I am so confused. April?! I thought Heroes: Origins was supposed to have some kind of impact on season 3, as in people would vote on their favorite new character and that person would be in the next season. But if it doesn't even begin until April, and they start shooting season 3 in June, I'm not sure that they'll even have time to write the character into the show! I thought that Origins was going to air during the winter hiatus.

Origins is supposed to be a one-shot type of series, focusing on some Heroes from s1 that were only briefly seen or mentioned--from what I've heard before.

"Heroes: Origins" is a six episode series that will run while Heroes is on hiatus. Each episode will focus on an individual with extraordinary powers that will not/has not (yet) been featured in the regular series. After all six episodes air, fans will vote for who'd they like see more of and that character will be featured in the real show the following season.

That is good news! I had such hope for Heroes and was let down so badly - maybe this will be some sort of little redemption!

Did anyone see Clerks 2? Or Kevin Smith in Die Hard 4? Man is this guy a "one hit wonder" or what! Ok so he had a couple of decent movies....a looooong time ago.
Why does he continue to get work?
He should be in the unemployment line!
