Big Brother 8: PoV Competiton #3

Zach streaking to the pool.

(S08E09) If I were going to compile a list of three things I didn't need to see during this season of Big Brother, it would probably look a little something like this:

1. Zach racing through the courtyard in the buff.
2. Dustin prancing around comfortably in a red unitard.
3. A close up of scrawny little Eric concentrating as fluorescent lights glimmered from his nipple rings.

As luck would have it, I got to see all three of these things tonight and actually had to watch Zach streak in slow motion on my TiVo to get the appropriate screen capture for this post. I can honestly say that I will never be the same.

Zach's naked jaunt through the courtyard ended up being a pretty amusing sequence despite the irreparable damage it did to my corneas.

As expected, the second he dashed out to the pool, his roommates ran into the house and locked the doors behind them - being sure to take the towel and his clothing indoors with them.

In all seriousness, it was nice to see Zach loosen up for a change. He's seemed pretty rigid up to this point.

Kail, Jen, and Mike ended up having a conversation where Mike promised to take Kail out of the hot seat should he play in and win the POV competition.

Afterwards, Dick came into Kail's room and seemed like he was going to be nice to her, but pretty much ended up explaining that Kail's gameplan sucked more than a Dyson and that if she didn't win POV, her ass was going hasta la bye bye.

Kail also made a weak case for getting rid of Jen, and it ultimately did more to harm her than help her as we saw a bit later.

America's Player - Whose personal property should Eric vandalize?

Eric desecrates Jen's Jensa shirt.

For tonight's America's Challenge, Eric learned that he would have to covertly vandalize some of Jen's property. Logically he chose an item from the Jeneric shirt line.

He ended up taking a bottle of mustard from the pantry and squeezing it all over Jen's "Member of Jensa" tank top.

Unfortunately, the entire sequence ended up being a little anticlimactic because Jen has such a blasé reaction to things a normal person would be irate about. When Dick yelled at her and promised to "make her the most miserable bitch in the house" a few episodes back, she simply smiled and waved at the camera. Her reaction to the mustard on her shirt was equally subdued.

POV Competition

As is usually the case, six contestants were going to participate in the POV Competition including the HOH and the two parties up for eviction.

Zach, Jessica and Nick ended up being the other three contestants and Eric was chosen to host the festivities.

Leading up to the POV Competition a whole lot of drama ensued and Evel Dick was the main catalyst.

He immediately started laying into Kail regarding the conversation mentioned above where Kail tried to convince Dick to tell the other house guests to kick Jen out of the house. In typical Dick fashion, he took what Kail said to him in confidence and laid it out for the entire house to hear.

This sparked a debate in the Hawkins' household. I'm under the impression that Dick's "there are no secrets, I'm a straight shooter, what you see is what you get" game plan is going to end up hurting him in the long run. My wife thinks he can maintain this strategy and make it all the way to the ed.

I think this strategy is fine for the short term, but he's eventually going to reach a point where it's necessary to be deceitful and keep secrets to maintain the integrity of an alliance. This is completely contradictory to Dick's candid style and the second another player learns of a deception he commits, they're going to call him out in much the same fashion he's doing to other players in these early days. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Anyhow, tonight's POV competition was based on the Mad Hatter tea party scene from Alice in Wonderland.

In short, the six contestants had to stand on a pedestal and balance a glass on an oversized hat resting atop their heads. The last player to keep their glass balanced and not fall off of the pedestal would be deemed the winner.

Approximately five seconds into the competition, Kail's glass fell off of her head. The evil grin on Evel's face was priceless. Kail quickly ran into the house and pouted beneath her blanket.

Evel smiling when Kail gets put out of the POV competition.

Afterwards, the people not competing in the challenge dressed up in goofy outfits and attempted to influence the contest by making people laugh.

Eventually, it came down to Dick and Jen. Dick quickly tried to convince Jen to step down and let him win, but to Jen's credit, she refused realizing that the only guarantee she had of remaining in the game rested with her winning POV.

It should be noted that Dick repeatedly called Jen an idiot during this segment.

Dustin prances in a unitard.

Practically everybody was working on getting Jen to drop her glass including Dustin who picked up where Zach left off and started working on causing permanent damage to my retinas. Mike was the solitary figure trying to get Dick to laugh and his attempts were more laughable than laugh inducing.

Dick eventually let Jen win after getting fed up with Mike's foolishness and promised to put Mike up for eviction.

Later in the evening, Dick went on a bit of a power trip and went buck crazy on Zach, Jen, and Nick for what he assumed was collusion in his HOH room.

Daniele then confronted her dad about this power trip and explained that he was talking down to people and alienating himself from the other people in the house.

Finally, Dick and Daniele had a personal conversation that would have fit right into an episode of Dr. Phil. It culminated with Dick promising Daniele that they would seek out some counseling once the show was over. I really hope we don't have to delve too much deeper into the anatomy of their troubled relationship. While it's heartwarming on occasion, it just doesn't mesh all that well with the game.

If the description of the last 8 or so events sounded a bit truncated it's because that's how it played out on TV. The last half of the episode seemed to happen in rapid fire. It was a whole lot of information to process in a little bit of time.

POV Ceremony

Jen took herself off the chopping block and as expected, Dick put up Mike.

And just because I don't want to be the only person completely blinded by tonight's episode, I leave you with this glaucoma causing image. Sleep well.

Eric's nipple rings.

Who's going home?
