There are very few television shows that I want to own on DVD, but this is one of them. Season one of 30 Rock is coming out on DVD on September 4th. The 3-disc package includes all 21 episodes, commentary by Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, deleted scenes, bloopers, and behind-the-scenes featurettes. For some reason, NBC has also made the first season available as two individual packages with the first 16 episodes in one package and the last five episodes plus extras in the second package.
I'm particularly excited for the later two-thirds of the season, when Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan got into their groove and the supporting characters started getting better story lines. Kenneth the Page, for instance, really took off about halfway through the season. And Alec Baldwin's one-liners got more unbelievable with each episode.
Weird note: Does Alec Baldwin look extremely photoshopped on the cover of the DVD? He looks thinner and younger than he does on the show. I guess Jack Donaghy got final approval of the jacket photo.

I'm so excited for this, mainly for the commentary. Tina Fey said it didn't sound like Tracy Morgan was even watching the episode when he was doing commentary (this is a good thing).
