(S04E06) After last week's review, I had some really great and interesting email conversations with some of the commenters here. And decided that it's not the fact that The 4400 is having religion as plot lines that bothers me-- it's Jordan's fundamental hypocrisy that bothers me. Jordan claims to be good and to give people choices, but he doesn't think twice about having his goon squad use their abilities to harm people (he brought Tom to his knees in "Try the Pie"), with promises of more harm to come. Do you really think Jordan had nothing to do with Hewitt's stroke? And what was the point of it anyway when they know that Shawn heals people? And that looked very impressive when Shawn told Hewitt not to thank him, just to "Change." Uh, yeah, because that is so easy. But on the whole, I loved this episode and I have really enjoyed this season tremendously so far.
One of the things I like about this season is how Tom keeps getting sucked farther and farther into the world of the 4400. I really liked this Curtis Peck storyline: What a great ability! To have things revealed as you write them. The actor who played Drew Imroth was terrific-- and of course The Marked are real. They just got to Peck, as Tom said.
Marco hasn't really been given enough to do this season, so it was nice that he got to play the part of first adoring and then bewildered fan. I liked the scene about closing your eyes and thinking of song lyrics in order to foster creativity. Because I am a complete geek, I found out that Curtis Peck has a MySpace page, and of course the Iron Maiden song "Different World" plays when you go to the site. He also has a blog there.
I would have said that it was unbelievable for Tom to have been put in isolation for 72 hours and for that group of masked mean to have gotten to him (did anybody else think they were shooting him up with Promicin?), except that this is exactly where the world of The 4400 is headed. Why is Tom so important? Of course, Diana has Maia, but do you think there will be a showdown between Tom and Kyle? Is Tom now programmed to be a pawn of The Marked? Tom has incredible force of will, so I would be amazed if he were actually under their control (whenever Imroth decides they need him).
I think Curtis will continue to play a role in the plot-- because only he can tell the who the other nine Marked are. I love how their marks look enough like moles to be ambiguous. I thought Curtis's trailer was absolutely hilarious, though, with those huge Xs behind everybody's ears, and the recreation of Isabelle killing Matthew.
I am going to have to say that when I think about where I fall along the promicin war, I fall on the side of the 4400. Even though I have reservations about Jordan as some kind of mad-man Messiah, I think the world needs the 4400 and their abilities. I have serious problems with a government round-up of people with these abilities. So, rather than the heroes to NTAC that Imroth imagines these Marked to be, I think we have now found the true evil-- and I think eventually Shawn will have to side with Kyle and Jordan Collier in order to save the world.

Am I the only person in the world who thinks 1. that the new boss lady [whose name I _still_ can't remember] is up to no good, in a major way and 2. that Kyle's "ability" is going to end up being a hoax by rogue future elements to manipulate him to manipulate Jordan to some other end? Am I?

RSL - I completely agree with #1. I was about to comment on just that. When Diana was talking about the marked and their meeting out of the country, she got a look on her face like she might have been one of those people or that she knew who was there.
I have really enjoyed this season...can't wait to see where all this leads. I want to see a lot more of Maia and her visions.

I'm sorry...why can't they bring April in to make him tell the truth now that he's sold out to the industry??? Come on, she's on the payroll.

Now see I was thinking how Sean could really use April's help about now to know who's telling him the truth and who isn't. She would be very helpful for Sean.
Jordon does bother me because power seems to go to his head. The more people look up to him, the worse he gets. He gave out promicin so that more people would be grateful to him and worship him. He was willing to sacrifice lives to do it too.

OK so th plot widens in a logical way. Wealway knew tat some future peole didn't want changes and had sent agents back in time. Now we know how to identify them. All this ties in nicely.
Jordan of course caused the stroke and of course he knew that Sean would save him. That neutralizes the guy as he now is politically "owned" by Sean who will thereby win the election. No harm done and the 440 move theball fwd. Convenient.
Yes the boss lady is acting suspiciously and some of her sob stories (last episode) will probably fall down soon.
Tom is going to bounce between all parties and te 4400 will sometime have to "save" him by his taking the "injection" and it oculd be in a cliff hanging season ender....
By the way talking of good and bad guys. Should we really automatically assume the people wantng "change" in the future are really the "good guys"? We only know the futre from what some pople in the future hae tld Tom and Co. Were these people telling the truth? Is the future really bad?

They only show 9 of the 'marked' in the show. 8 of them having the meeting and Matthew.
Could Jordan be the 10th?

Jordan isn't the 10th as The Marked have no powers and he clearly does. My take is that the only way Tom can stop becoming one of The Marked is by taking Promicin.

Kyle was the tenth Marked One.
The 'Marked' was the evil white thing that Shawn pulled out of him. It was what Shawn was looking for in Hewitt the night he went to his garage.
