Despite being fired from Grey's Anatomy and blaming everyone but himself for his predicament, it looks like Isaiah Washington is landing firmly on his feet.According to USA Today, NBC is set to announce that they've signed the actor to a development deal; under the deal, Washington will star in an action drama that he pitched the network, starting in the 2008-09 season. In the meantime, he will have a guest role on the network's upcoming remake of The Bionic Woman, playing a mysterious figure that will either help or hurt the main character, Jamie Sommers. He's signed for at least five episodes.
NBC and their new entertainment president, Ben Silverman, seem to be betting a lot of money that people are going to look past Washington's incident at Grey's -- and the arrogant way he's handled himself since being fired -- and appreciate his acting ability. Sure, I guess that could happen. But you know this story is going to dog him until he starts his new series, if not longer. The key is to see how he handles himself from here on out.

I guess NBC will have some interns do fag-checking during the casting process for his co-stars...
"Pun" intended...

Of course I'm still going to watch the show and give it a fair chance (it looks like it could be good), but his presence will somewhat taint the experience for me. Unless he's killed off, rather gruesomely. By a "fag."

Ok I am probably going to get bashed for this, but I think it is time to give Isaiah Washington a break. From what I know of the situation (and you are more than welcome to correct me if I am wrong) the comment was made in the midst of an argument with Patrick Dempsey that was later made public. Although I think he may have repeated it ... Anyway what I am saying is that you can't base a person's entire character on the basis of one ill advised comment, indeed one ill advised word, made when tensions are high. If Isaiah is homophobic or a 'gay basher' then of course it is a bad thing, but in my opinion people are afraid to consider the possiblity that it was said in a temper and sheds no light on his beliefs. Hopefully for him in ten years people will be thinking about his acting not about some decade old argument with a co star. Also as an aiside I think Burke was a great character on Greys and its a pity he had to leave the show.

I'm a whole lot less interested in "Bionic Woman" now than I was before. A 5-episode guest appearance indicates that the producers of the show have no problem at all with Washington's behavior, which from what's been published, caused plenty of trouble on the set of "Grey's" both before and after his spewing of the f-word.

Damn. I was so looking forward to this show.
From USA Today this morning, "Katherine Pope, president of NBC's Universal Media Studios, says that despite the public baggage, Washington is "a brilliant actor," and she believes viewers will re-embrace him. "I think people watch characters on TV, not personalities" in the news, she says."
What world is she living in? People do watch characters to a certain extent, but... I can't watch a Mel Gibson movie because his off-screen antics far overshadow anything he does on screen so I just end up thinking, "That's Mel Gibson, *#*#@($$". Same with Tom Cruise. And same with Washington. Grey's Anatomy was my favorite show until the incidents and then it was just ruined for me. I can't wait for the new season and hope they don't mention him at all so I can get sucked back in.
If he has a big part in "Bionic Woman" I'll probably just end up dropping the show. Life is too short to deal with people like that.

Come on don't judge this show based on Washington. If all germans would do that, Tom Cruise would bomb with every film since Scientology is regarded as more of a cult than a religion based on their brainwashing their members. Now I don't want to get into that whole argument, I just wanted to point out that you can still enjoy a show even if an actor is an idiot/racist/whatever. I like Angelina Jolie-Movies even though I think she's a total nut ^^;

Good for him. I'm sick of the armchair vindictiveness by morons who admittedly don't know what truly happened.

I'm getting so sick of this crap. Do you think Isaiah Washington is the first person to say something like this on a set? People need to get off his back and if there so "concerned" there's other ways to voice their feigned outrage.
I wish Washington the best of luck. Grey's Anatomy will be lesser without him.

Well, NBC is pretty desperate. I hear they're in talks with Michael Richards too.
Washington screwed up a great gig. Used a hateful slur on set, then did it AGAIN at the GGs while lying about it. Then went on Larry King and made an ass of himself.
He's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. It's just a matter of time before he shows his ass again.

Even if Washington never made that disgusting remark, I don't think he deserves an Emmy nomination. I love the show, although I think it got off the mark a little bit toward the end of the season.

Washington is really talented and full of charm. And what a pity that I can't see him again in Greys Anatomy due to only a word, but anybody makes mistake, carelessly or purposefully. What we need to do is not how to blame him but forgive him, and believe that the real gold will shine one day. By the way, Greys Anatomy without Burke is lesser.

Just let him off the hook. Everybody makes mistakes and we can't just judge a person by a word he said, carelessly of purposefully. We should see that he is really very brilliant and talented, the character he plays is so successful that I believe Grey's Anatomy without Dr Burke will be lesser.
