USA announces new shows for 2008

shiri applbyHere's what USA has in development for 2008:

  • Halo will center on a man who wakes up one morning to find a halo over his head. Brilliant! I mean, the halo will be "brilliant," as in: "luminous" -- the show itself doesn't sound brilliant at all. The man tries to get rid of the halo but finds himself doing good deeds in the meantime. Actually, I'm being a smartass, and if it weren't a USA series I'd probably be rolling my eyes at the idea, but something tells me there might be something more substantive here than what the synopsis implies.
  • Synesthesia has always fascinated me, and it's the center of The Expert, a new series about a librarian with synesthesia (a condition in which senses become mixed and a person is able to "smell" colors, "feel" words, etc). The librarian is recruited by police to help them solve crimes using her unique ability. I smell a crossover with Monk . . . or do I feel it?
  • Citizen's Arrest is about a man, who is not a cop, but was institutionalized as a boy for thinking he was a cop, who goes undercover to solve cases. He sets out to clear the name of "Uncle Jimmy," his surrogate who was pegged as a dirty cop.
  • To Love & Die will also launch in 2008. It stars Shiri Appleby, Frances Fisher, Tim Matheson, Kristin Dattilo and Christine Adams. Appleby plays a young woman who thinks she can resolve her issues with men if she tracks down the father she never knew (Matheson), but finds out her father is actual a contract killer. Brett also mentioned this new series last year when it was called To Love & Die in LA. The shorter title is still not official, though.
