You know how the contestants on Survivor really aren't very interesting anymore? You gotta give this guy points for originality. A California man recently skinned a snake alive and ATE IT at open auditions for Survivor in Bakersfield, CA. He freakin' ATE IT. The guy gave a fake name to the newspaper and told them he's unemployed and he's ready to play a real game of Survivor. [Side note: Do they do background checks for homicidal tendencies?]The city newspaper, The Bakersfield Californian, actually has a 2 minute video of the entire event complete with commentary from other horrified Survivor hopefuls. I honestly got about 30 seconds into the video and nearly lost my lunch, so consider this your warning.

That's disgusting; how is animal cruelty worth applauding? If you kill a snake and eat it, fine. But *skinning it alive*?

There's nothing even remotely cool, interesting or amusing about this. Evil scum like this that think it's okay to torture living things like this (for any reason, but particularly for the sake of getting onto a god-forsaken reality tv show) deserve... well, I guess deserve to be skinned and eaten alive.

I will not watch this video and am disturbed that you have linked to it. If this had been a puppy, would someone have stopped this man? It is animal cruelty, plain and simple. Why is it on this site?

Some people just don't get it. For a major network to condone this behavior for the sake of TV show is as low as the moron who auditioned.

Why would people at a Survivor audition be upset by this? Do they watch the show?

How is he not punished by law?! He tortured that snake then killed it and people think it's awesome? I wonder if people would still applaud if he did the same to a human or even a dog or cat. His act is ruthless and just sick. I hope he gets sick and suffers twice as much as the snake did!

You animal cruelty people make me sick. You go and Vacuum out live human beings from your Godforsaken wombs because they're an incovenience. Leave this man alone. The snake was not alive when he ate it (bad info from the reporter), and if you really cared you would stop this kind of thing from happening on a much larger scale at rattlesnake roundups and the such. This country needs to get its priorities right before it can start casting stones in any direction. It's easy to sit on a soapbox and look down at other people especially if they disturb you. If somebody had an abortion in front of the Survivor casting crew, would you all be up in arms, or would it be a standing ovation?!

Before anyone says something about the animals I ate for dinner, I am a vegan, which means I don't eat or wear anything that comes from an animal. That being said, this is animal cruelty. I think this man needs evaluated and charges brought up against him. He made a video, there were plenty of witnesses for a case against him! It would be irresponsible for the network not to give the video to the police and all of his contact information! I hope the network and later police do the right thing and charge him with animal cruelty!! Pain, suffering, torture is no laughing matter no matter who the victim is and what does it say about ones morality/ethics to watch this and not do anything?!
