(S04E05) "Yo, pretty dope lid you're sportin' there hombre. Where'd you get it?" - Drama
Doug Ellin and Co. does it again. I think Entourage is finally returning to the level of quality we had been use to. Granted I've been enjoying this season right along, but this episode was spectacular from all accounts. It just flowed very smoothly, had some classic Ari and Drama lines, had E get in a fight, and even guest-starred the very funny Bob Balaban. Sounds like a winner to me.
Speaking of Ari, as much as I enjoy the plots involving him and his wife, it's great to see him back in Vinnie's corner fighting and lying to keep his #1 client in the game. It just makes the episode feel that much more cohesive, you know?
Drama had a full day too. Before returning to the set for season two of Five Towns, he and Turtle scored some pretty potent medical marijuana. When they all got baked in Drama's trailer, I half-expected Ed Burns to walk in and fire Drama on the spot. I feel like that would be par for the course at this point. Then he'd really be screwed trying to pay for that new condo. At least he got his ridiculous trucker hat though. He looked like an idiot by the way. Like some Vanilla Ice/Kevin Federline hybrid.
Other stuff I either loved or has me worried:
- Ari and Lloyd's "Agency 101: Sabotage" plot to take down Josh Weinstein and Heath Ledger. Hilarious. Even better? Lloyd ordering two Woo-Woo shots to celebrate.
- Ari's solid-gold dialogue: homoerotic man slavery and Eric's translucent boy chest. Priceless!
- I'm worried about Ari getting back in bed with Dana Gordon. Ari screwed her once with WB and Aquaman. She has to still be pissed a little right?
- I'm not so happy about that interview with Elvis Mitchell and Interview magazine either. He laughed but anyone with half a brain could see that E and Walsh did not get along.
- Speaking of Walsh, how crazy was his full back tattoo of Medellin and Pablo Escobar's head?!?
- Finally, I'm ridiculously pleased the producers are showing the Cold War Kids some love in the credits music. If you haven't bought their album yet, do it now.

I agree... another great installment. I gotta say, I'm more than happy to see Eric finally take a swing at Billy. Eric has always been the logical, responsible one among the entourage, and I like him best when he fights for and earns respect. He's the one who earns his due through hard work and integrity, and I can't help but root for that.
Speaking of which, it was good to see Drama earn a little status in his world, too. Sure, his function on the show is as the lovable has-been, but he can't fail ALL the time.
While it made a great out for the episode, I'm definitely hoping this doesn't mean they're going to have to use Walsh for their next movie. Yes, he makes for fun conflict, but I've had enough. Time for the boys to face new ridiculous challenges. Wally Balls can go back to his efforts to bring back the wide bush

I think that thing in the trailer was a reference to Billy winning the award for Queens Boulevard at Sundance. Can anyone else back that up?

I believe the Grand Jury award at Cannes reference was for "Queens Boulevard"...

Another solid episode on every front. This show is firing on all cylinders (even with Billy Walsh).

I was disappointed by the last 2 episodes, but this was great stuff.
It's always fun to see Ari and Lloyd in action and interact with E and Vince.
Though there's NO WAY the Dream Team is working again...at least I hope not.

Anyone else being asked for a password to watch the trailer from the HBO link? It was working fine when I added the link early this morning... now it seems the trailer is only viewable with the password. Weird.

Please stick to talking TV--giving the Cold War Kids any compliments isn't going to score you indie cool points. Leave bad music reviews and plugs to those of us prepared to eat our words, though CWK aren't good at all.

Justin -
Sorry I offended you. Hope you don't dock me any "indie cool points" for happening to mention an album I'm currently listening to and enjoying on a *gasp* TV blog.

I think Vince's make-up and accent are poorly implemented. Very cheesy. I mean, it's cool for the 'show within a show' thing that is Entourage, but, methinks they would have done better keeping these scenes out of the show, like Aquaman. The explosions look awesome, at least.

Jonathan,
Please DO NOT pay any attention to Justin. I was on such a high when I heard the faint sounds of the Cold War Kids when the credits started rolling. My husband had to tell me to calm down. I've been living on their album for months. They are great.
And Justin, the mention of Cold War Kids was completely appropriate here as it was a part of the show Jonathan was reviewing. And, seeing how Entourage had done a great job of song selection to play over the credits, it's certainly fair game. Seems to me you're just as guilty of whatever you're accusing Jonathan of.

Grand Jury was for QB at Sundance. From the first time that I started watching Entourage, it continues to be the best 26 minutes of programming on television.
My first question from this episode - How did Turtle just walk right into the clinic without a card? It didn't make any sense after drama threw a fit to get past the guard.

Vince made a great comment to Erik about Walsh stating that he is has the brains and stability to control his temper where Walsh is just an insane creative type that no one is going to change. The little Irishman is going to have to come to terms with his hatred toward Walsh, especially when they have to work together again. Walsh and the return of the wide bush is the best reoccurring role to date on this show. He is the writers' new best friend because they can introduce conflict with a flip of the creative switch. They tried to do it with Dom, but failed because he didn't play into a long-term plot line. You can only have sex with so many hookers and steal so many Shrek dolls before you character gets old.
Although, the fight in Barneys' did feel a little contrived, I still laughed my ass off. Great episode and the only thing it lacked was some T&A. Keeping in the theme of hooking up with colleagues – Vince’s next conquest should be Dana Evans.

Cold War Kids are a fantastic band, and their inclusion in the credits was better than any rap they typical use to close the episode.
Hey Justin, you should upload some MP3s of your awesome band so we can all have a listen.
Thanks in advance.

Agree on the Cold War Kids. Pick up their album. I listened to their EP (Up In Rags) before the LP was out, and it really kicked ass.
I want a "Suits Suck" shirt. Because... suits suck.

A) I'm not in an awesome band. I'm not a failed musician with a jealousy streak
B) The Cold War Kids aren't good--it's not a matter of opinion. I'm sure they're happy to have fans that buy their albums and go to their shows (what band wouldn't?) but just because they're the hot indie band put on a [questionably once] hot program should not induce people into a panic over them. There are/were many bands that do the CWK sound much better and much cooler. It's just that bloggers jump on any new band they feel they can break (I call it the Pitchfork Syndrome) and CWK seem to be the indie band flavor of the month. When they go the way of Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Menomena and every other blogger flavor of the month, you will forget them until you sell their CD to buy the next flavor.
C) I wasn't offended by your CWK appreciation. I just wish more talented and hard-working bands got their due. It's taken 20 years for The Stooges to get love and people now label them sell-outs, so I guess it's a double-edged sword anyway.
