After so many red herrings in the past I really do believe this time it's all a-go. The lawsuit that Chris Carter had with FOX has been settled and now there is nothing stopping it from going ahead, since everybody, the studio included (as has been reported) is eager to do one.

I don't see it having any problem attracting a large audience. The show was phenomenally huge and given the time that's past people will flock out for if nothing else, nostalgia sake. However I also have no doubt it will turn out to be a great movie and that along with good promotion should make it a success.

Stil success or not I can't wait to see The X-Files live again.

I would be thrilled to have a new X-Files movie, but only if it has NOTHING to do with the conspiracy/alien story arc! I am greatly looking forward to a fun monster flick :) I was a huge fan of the monster of the week episodes of the X-Files, especially when they were funny, and as long as they do it well, I don't think it will have any problem finding an audience.

I can't wait for this movie, I'll probably be there at a midnight release too. As a child of the 90's, I was raised on The X-Files and I rediscovered it last year in Sci-Fi channel reruns and now I'm totally obsessed. It'll be great to actually be there for the show now that I'm old enough and can really appricate it. I think a comedic monster-of-the-week movie would be fantastic. Those were some of the best episodes.

I only have two words for you when wondering about how successful this film will be after being off the air so long:

Star Trek

It will be a success no matter what however if the film itself is well written, it will be a BIG hit. There are just too many old X-ers out there waiting for this thing to happen. 'Nuff said!

I don't care if its the conspiracy theory or "monster of the week", I will be there when it opens! I hope it is a go and this isn't another false alarm.

I am excited. I heard it was going to be a standalone (as this piece confirms) and so I'm hoping the show will go back to its roots. I'll be there for opening day.

I am super excited! I already told everyone I know, even if they never watched the show. I too grew up in the 90's and Friday nights (and then Sunday nights) were the best night of the week. My fave episodes were the humorous ones too. I wonder if Doggett and Reyes will show up, I need to watch the last season again to remember how it all ended. I am definately going to be there at the midnight release!

I hope Duchovney and Anderson really want to do this, I was under the impression that they really didn't want to do the show anymore, but I hope they realized that that show was the best thing that happened to them, since they have kind of disappeared in the past 4 years.

hi! i also belong to the xf generation and i am really excited about this new movie. However, if XF2 is a "monster of the week" kind of movie, then there has to be a 3rd movie before 2012 (you know: the end of the world!) because the last episode was not really a series finally!!
