Recently, I hepped you to news that Leonard Nimoy would be appearing in JJ Abrams' Star Trek XI, but that William "Captain kirk" Shatner would not.
The full cast will be announced at Comic Con, which kicks off later this month, so until then we can only speculate on what Nimoy's role will be, if indeed all this Web scuttlebutt is true.
Lending some credence to the the Nimoy rumor is Shatner himself, who, in the video below, talks about getting a phone call from Nimoy, who informed his old friend that he had landed a role in the movie and Shatner had not. Again, how much of this is just Shatner playing around and how much of it is actually true remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes has a round-up of recent Trek gossip, including the possibility of Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes) as a young Spock. The film comes out on December 25, 2008.

I could see Zachary Quinto as a young Spock. Good choice. Hopefully there's something to that gossip :)

GOOD!
I don't want to see Shatner in any new Star Trek movie, TV series, ANYTHING. He can write books all he wants but he should stay the hell out of anything star trek that is filmed. "Generations" was the most unbearable star trek movie (next to the last one which I also try to forget since I saw it because it was _that_ ridiculously flawed, boring and totally illogical). Shizon... *grrrr* I still want my money back.
