Ricky's leaving, Bill's staying, and a bunch of other things are happening at HBO in regards to comedy (and drama). Here's what's what:
The new drama series, Tell Me You Love Me, kicks off September 9 at 9:00 p.m. It delves into the lives of three couples who all go to the same therapist. There's a couple in their 40s who no longer have sex, a couple in their 30s struggling to have their first child, and a couple in their 20s struggling to remain faithful to one another. So, there's a lot of struggling, in case I didn't use that word enough. The cast includes Jane Alexander, Michelle Borth, Tim DeKay, Aislinn Paul, Adam Scott, Kate Towne, Sonya Walger and Ally Walker.
Curb Your Enthusiasm returns September 9 at 10:00 p.m. to kick off its sixth season.
Extras, however, is coming to an end with a one-hour special. The special shoots in August, but there's no word yet on when it will air. We'll keep you posted.
This one I'm really looking forward to: the hysterical Little Britain is coming to HBO. This time the British sketch series will take place in America, but with many of the same characters (and a few new ones). Creators and performers Matt Lucas and David Walliams, who played pretty much all the characters in the original, are also involved with this one. Look for it next year.
Real Time with Bill Maher kicks off the latter half of its fifth season on August 25. The sixth season kicks off sometime next year. Before all of that, however, you can catch Maher's new stand-up special, Bill Maher: The Decider on July 21 at 10:00 p.m.
Other upcoming comedy specials:
-
Bob Saget: That Ain't Right (August 25)
-
D.L. Hughley: Unapologetic (September 22)
-
Jim Norton: Rain Monster (sometime in October)
Dave Attell also has a special slated for November.

Wow... sounds pretty boring. And everyone already knows where to find porn so what's the point of watching HBO for it? Give me back Deadwood! Give me something more interesting like Big Love.

This is fun. I'm gonna guess:
Ricky = Ricky Gervais
Bill = Bill Paxon or Bill Maher
Was there supposed to be another Gervais project after Extras? Big Love is still going strong, so I'm glad if it's "staying". Could care less about Maher though.

I'm happy to see Curb back for another season. I wonder if Larry will deal with his pending divorce in the show.. that could get very interesting!
