I bet you thought you had seen the last of ABC's National Bingo Night. But you'd be wrong.
The show didn't do too well in the ratings when it aired recently on Friday nights, but the web traffic was so good that the network is bringing the show back for five nights starting on December 17. Just in time to win a bunch of money and buy something for your special someone.
I guess if this show is going to stick around, it's better to have it as a special event a couple of times a year and not a regular, weekly show. It's what they should have kept doing with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Instead, they drove that show into the ground by running it all the time.

Further proving that TV rating system is a joke.

I don't think the ratings for this matter nearly as much as with other shows. You have to look at the actual value the sponsors get out of it. And I don't mean the :30 spots, I'm talking about KMart, Quiznos, and all the other prize sponsors. Ever notice how many times their logos are onscreen during one game? How many times the host mentions KMart, how many times they roll that little clip of happy people at KMart? Not to mention the fact that if you're like me (and I know there's some of you out there) you printed out a half dozen sets of cards, each with more sponsor logos. The number of 'impressions' the sponsors get has to beat even Coke and Ford on Idol, and that's where they get the value. They can mention them a hundred times, and you're not skipping past those mentions, 'cause you might miss the ball you need.

Uhm, David, this is fucking bingo being shown in prime time, and the rating sucked. I think this is a clear case that sometimes, the ratings are spot on.
