Four million people tuned into the series premiere of USA Network's Burn Notice two weeks ago, and they held on to most of those viewers last week.
The Thursday night show has become a hit for USA. Most shows get big numbers for their premieres, because of lots of advertising and curiosity (*cough* Studio 60 *cough*), but don't hold on to them. It looks like fans like viewers like Burn Notice enough to give it another shot.
Besides the big advertising push (you've seen ads here and on a ton of other web sites, and the TV ads have been pretty consistent), USA is smartly using top movies and TV shows to lead into Burn Notice, which is something I've always said all the networks should do. Of course, if this show was on ABC, CBS, NBC, or FOX, it would already be on hiatus.

I watched the first two episodes and I loved them. I usually hate voiceovers, but there's something refreshing about the way Burn Notice delivers them. The show is smart, funny and completely sarcastic! I'm in for the season and we'll see where it goes.

At this time of year when there's not much else on, it stands out as one of the few things that are worth watching. The only other things worth watching (for me) right now are The 4400, The Dead Zone and (about to start again) Eureka.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the first two episodes. I only tuned in because of Bruce Campbell, but now I'm hooked on the whole show.
USA deserves kudos for their programming. If only Drive had been developed by them...

I couldn't even get through the first episode.
The lead actor has been the lead before in at least one other USA show that failed. I don't think he can carry a show by himself.

Second episode was a tad weak but we'll give it a few more shots as we like the premise and star. Dialogue's fun too.

I'm with Steve.
Tuned in for Bruce, just out of curiousity, but the lead didn't hold me. I don't buy him holding together an entire series. I certainly didn't buy his NYC accent when he tried to con the conman.
As a whole I felt like much of the show was very trite (trying to help your mother's elderly neighbor?) but the voiceovers and lead weren't really lending themselves to that (although the other actors certainly did.) He was too serious in a goofy show, walking a line between serious and goofy that was just kind of boring and awkward.
But I'll tune in again. In hopes that he grows into it, or the show grows into him. I'd imagine he can't be solving boring neighborhood crimes too much longer. The larger plot should take over and hopefully be better.

I think the show is great, and I think the lead just needs a little bit of time to show some additional background before people will buy him completely.
For me, I think the best part of the show is that it plays a bit like a noir detective story but set in the pastel vibrance of Miami. Oh, and bikinis don't hurt much.
I will say this ... I love the ex-girlfriend, I love the buddy, and I hate the mother. Which is exactly what we're supposed to do, I think. But I think the mother needs to have her part reduced to as little screen time as possible. Maybe just her voice in annoying phone calls.
But yes, this show is definitely a hit. USA seems to be on a roll lately.

Well... I watched the first 2 episodes and probably wouldn't have even known about the show (I normally detest USA Network)... but I saw their ad somewhere... hmm... yeah it was here. :)
I like it so far.

Episode 2 was even better than the pilot. A great, witty, intriguing show with terrific casting.

Hell yes. USA Network's slogan of "Characters Welcome" is spot on. I never really got into Monk, but I did watch a few episodes and I get the appeal. Psych became one of my favorite shows after the first two episodes or so. Now Burn Notice on the air with one of my favorite character actors: Bruce Campbell. The story is interesting, the local is appealing (I secretly think that Miami was chosen, not only for the hot girls and great scenery, but the actors from Dexter are around to make small roles big. The execs at USA need raises, they know what they are doing.

I was interested after seeing the ads. My better half was not convinced until she was in the room while I watched the first ep. She was hooked then.

I like this show a lot more than I thought I would. It just plain entertains me. It's not "thought-provoking", or "inspiring", or "deeply emotional", or any of that stuff. Yeah, yeah, those shows have their place and I enjoy them, too. But sometimes I just want to be entertained, and laugh, and not be bored, and not analyze anything. And this show, so far, does it.
And come on, Bruce Campbell. Seriously. Yay.

At first I thought, another dead-end show to fill gaps during the summer. I didn't catch the first pilot, but after that, I was SPRUNG! I love the way this guy gives US tips about the art of fighting without a weapon. I love his interaction with kids! He keeps you wide-eyed and ears opened! I like watching it...twice.

I think Burn Notice is very entertaining and believe it to be a summer hit. Just watch it and chill out, for the fun of the show. I would like to see Sharon Gless get away from the smoking and pick up a hobby like cooking different foods and pawning them off to Jeff, his girlfriend, and side kick Bruce though. Just move away from the negative of smoking.
