Yes, you read right. Desperate Housewives' creator Marc Cherry wants to do what other series (see Buffy and Scrubs) did before: a musical episode! Variety reports that the Cherry is looking to keep ratings up next year and thinks that a musical episode may help create a buzz.
Cherry hasn't made his final decision on if it'll happen or not but Teri Hatcher is already aboard. The actress has performed on a few occasions both on screen and on stage. Variety also reports that Nicollette Sheridan showed she would be up to the task as she recorded a duet on Michael Bolton's latest album. Felicity Huffman sang back vocals for Tina Turner during an Oprah Winfrey episode, so she would probably be up for the challenge to. As for the others, no matter if they ever sang on TV or stage, I think it would be interesting to see a Desperate musical. Wouldn't it be fun to hear songs like "I Know What's In Your Basement," "The Baby Isn't Yours," or "Blackmail, Blackmail, Blackmail."

Eva Longoria doesn't seem to have much talent towards carrying a tune (see her absolutely hilarious SNL skit for Dee House Dish). Though not singing well didn't stop Allyson Hannigan. I'd make a point to tune in.

The Variety blurb kind of sort of (not really) implies that Nicollette Sheridan will be back next season. I suspect she will.

*putting envelope against forehead* I see Nathen Fillion and musical.
*opening envelope to see inside* What two things put together that will cancel your TV show. (I can only hope)

I think it would be interesting...more like funny as well. I usually get the re-runs of the show but I would definitely watch this one as a new show.

A musical? Uh, no. See, it worked for Buffy because the singing and all that could be explained with some supernatural phenomenon. It worked for Scrubs because Scrubs is just ridiculous like that any way. Sounds to me like the network may be getting a bit desperate. (Though, I admit that I'm going to start tuning in when Nathan Fillion joins the cast. Gotta love that man.)
