What would you say if Meredith's half-sister and new Seatlle Grace intern were to become a regular character on Grey's Anatomy? That is what TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting in his latest "Ask Ausiello" feature.Chyler Leigh, who plays Meredith's half-sister Lexie Grey, was first introduced at the very end of last season. Many fans already don't like her character much as she is already getting in the way of the Meredith and Derek relationship.
Leigh's original contract stipulated that she would appear in 13 episodes. But it seems that as writers and the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, are mapping the upcoming season, they are thinking to have her stick around as a permanent fixture.
Some fan sites, including SpoilerTV and Spoiler Buzz, are already speculating as to what Leigh's character may be up to if she becomes a regular. For sure, Lexie will bring tension. She not only will be an intern in the same hospital her half-sister works but also had a better father-daughter relationship than Meredith had with their father. Also, if Derek doesn't end his potential relationship with Lexie now, it will be rather ugly between the siblings. As SpoilerBuzz writes it "Derek's perspective, it would be pretty dirty to sleep with your girlfriends (or ex-girlfriends) sister, no matter how you slice or dice it." No matter if she is a regular or not, I'm pretty sure that speculation is pretty much what will happen in the upcoming season.
Personally, I would be happy to see her join the cast. It would bring new storylines and tension. Anyone who can break up Meredith and Derek once and for all (I'm really tired of the "we are together, we are not, I'm angry at you, I love you, we are back together, etc." storyline between the two characters) or have them decide to stick together is welcomed. Plus, I'm still not over the fact that Reunion, in which Leigh played Carla Noll, was canceled so seeing any of its cast on the screen brings me a bit of closure.
Would you like to see Chyler Leigh become a regular? What do you expect her character will bring to the show?

I loved Reunion and I'm not over it, so in that respect, I don't know how I'll feel to see her interact with a different cast. But, I am sick of Meredith, so she may be the cure for that.

I don’t know, I think she’s great and I’ve always been a fan but that woman is the kiss of death to a TV show.
She’s was involved in the highly touted “That 80s Show” which was from the creators of the successful “That 70s Show” and that show got cancelled without completing its first season. She was in David Kelly’s highly touted “Girls Club” and it got cancelled in a few episodes. Then she went to The Practice which got cancelled in the first season she was on. Then Reunion which was cancelled half way through its first season
(btw – between The Practice and Reunion she guest starred on an episode of “North Shore” which, got cancelled in its first season)
Like I said, I think she’s fantastic, but maybe she should go back to film.

I just remember her as the actress who had to make out with her brother on screen, which I find hilarious and gross.

I am thrilled because this opens up the door to killing off Meredith.

Oh, HELL NO. The way to solve the Mer/Der dancearound is to leave them alone and happy for a while and pick on someone else, not introduce even *more* ridiculous hijinx into their relationship.

Well there going to have to fill up the space vacated by Isaiah Washington's ouster. She didn't make much of an impression when I saw her last season. The decline is pretty much on schedule.

I think she is alright, but to call her the LA Lohan of TV shows is not nice :P.

I would love to see a healthy, self-confident, and prettier Grey on the show to keep people guessing about how "safe" Meredith's character is. (Meredith's look, her manner, and her "I'm the girl with abandonment issues" story-line does nothing for me.) Besides, as much as I love the show, I am so sick of Meredith and Derek's whining. If Derek could just dump her cold and go have a healthy, solid, happy relationship with someone else without looking back, it would be a true joy. The show's starting to get a little too maudlin for my preference. You have to let certain characters be happy for a significant period of time while others struggle and back and forth. You can't just dump loads of crap on everybody all the time.

I dont think she should be a permanent feature at all. As Lexie has already displayed her true character, GA is the best show in the world and Mer and Der and their love is the soul, sweet fun and games on the show. Besides if Der and Lexie get involved it will make Patrick Dempsey most unpopular and that will make GA unpopular and he is the life of the show, besides lexie's image is not going to get better. If for some godforsaken reason you want to keep this lexie girl on the show get her involved with Mc Steamy.
