Both Toon Zone and ICv2 have written of a supposed Entertainment Tonight report that there will be a sequel to the recently-released Transformers movie (which has already been a line of toys, several animated TV series, a comic book and a feature-length animated film).
However, my scan of the ET site has not brought up anything of the sort, and while a couple articles from other sites do allude to the possibility of a sequel, I see nothing that could be construed as an official announcement.
Personally, I think they will make a sequel, and director Michael Bay himself has said he had a lot of ideas he wanted to try that didn't fit into Transformers. Also, a sequel would open up the possibility of even more Transformers, including the Dinobots and Constructicons.
Also, star Shia LaBeouf has signed on to return if another movie gets made, which makes a sequel even more of a possibility. I doubt Hollywood is going to walk away from a chance to squeeze more money from those of us who grew up with the Transformers. Besides, I'd rather see another Transformers movie than a Thundercats one.

Not for nothing, but your sister site already reported on a similar rumor:

There's always been talk of sequels for Transformers.
There was word around April that it had already been greenlit.

Wow! Breaking news! lol
Was there any doubt that a sequel would be made? Even if the movie made no money, the toys would.

No, no, please no. The movie sucked. Don't get me wrong, the robots were cool, but the story was horrible.

I loved the movie, a lot of people seem to be saying there was no plot which i don't get. I mean it wasn't a deep plot, but for an action movie about alien robots that transform what type of plot were you looking for.
I can't wait for a sequel.

I also loved it. A Michael Bay Summer blockbuster isn't supposed to be chock full of intricate plot devices, masterful dialog, and more character development than a novel.
It's about kick ass action, explosions, and gratuity of all kinds (Megan Fox, if you read this, forget Brian Austin Green. Come marry me).
I loved it.

Let me say that there's certainly room for a sequel and it would seem they were told of the possibility before they finished the first movie.

On May 30, 2007, Dreamworks greenlit two sequels to Transformers, and Shia LaBeouf, Megan Foxand Peter Cullensigned on to return. Producer Tom DeSanto has envisioned a storyline introducing the Dinobots, the Constructicons, and Soundwave. Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman may not return, as "Star Trek... is taking up kind of all of our time."Michael Bay has not signed on, "trying to keep some leverage for the negotiations", but already has ideas, including an aircraft carrier character. Technically, Devastator (a character in the current film) is a constructicon. Sure, it's not like we remember him but he _is_ a constructicon. It would be really cool to see multiple 'bots forming into one giant constructicon, though.

Well, I know for a fact that the sequel is in pre-pro right now and is supposed to come out in 2009. There has already been a 3rd talked about and approved, but there is no gauarentee on the third yet. Also, Devastator is the constructocons. Devastator was the joined version of all 6 contructocons, which is where they screwed up in the movie. Bonecrusher was one of the constructocons as well. Prime destroyed bonecrusher which would keep devastator from being able to form because without all 6, devastator can't unite. Scrapper, Bonecrusher, Scavenger, Long-Haul, Hook. and Mixmaster all formed Devastator. One of the movies biggest screw ups...

I have seen Transformers 4 times. Action packed from beginning to end. It was a GREAT movie. I can't wait for the next movie. A lot of friends and I have seen it and cannot wait to own it when it comes out on DVD. There were a lot of kids who saw this movie, so in the next movie, keep the profanity out. It's really not even necessary. I'm so sure it will be just as successful as this one. So far Transformers and Fantastic 4 TWO were the best action packed movies this year.

i dont think there should be any Constructicons in the sequel because bone crusher was a Constructicon and hes dead. pretty pointless having Constructicons that cant turn into devastator or is that just me
