Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz, who both serve as executive producers on American Dad, have signed a development deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
The men won't have to leave American Dad under the deal, but will be allowed to develop new projects for the studio. Previously, the men worked on such shows as Two Guys and a Girl (which they co-created), Do Over and Like Family.
For those who don't remember, which I assume is most people, Do Over was about an adult (Tom Everett Scott) who goes back in time to when he was fourteen to try and stop his family from making mistakes that will affect his adult life it aired, very briefly, in 2002. Like Family came one year later, and focused on a black family and a while family sharing a home. It also didn't make it past the first season.
It would seem Wiener and Schwartz are about 50/50 when it comes to sitcom success. Wiener says he'd love to do another multi-camera comedy in front of a live audience. I'd love him to make a sitcom I'd actually want to watch.
