It looks like the rumors are true: Joe Scarborough is getting the Don Imus spot on MSNBC.
Howard Kurtz at The Washington Post is reporting that Scarborough and MSNBC are in final negotiations to make his Morning Joe show the permanent show in the 6am to 9am slot on the network. Scarborough has been filling in (with other hosts, such as David Gregory) since Imus went bye-bye, and has been getting good buzz (though not ratings). Some CBS radio stations might pick up the show as well.
There was some talk that Rosie O'Donnell might get a show on MSNBC. But now that Scarborough has this gig (and Dan Abrams might stay in Scarborough's old nighttime slot), there seems to be less room for her on the schedule. Unless they get rid of those documentaries about prisons they seem to run every night.

I'm starting to get addicted to my Morning Joe. He's less conservative and a lot funnier than I had given him credit for in the past. Mica is great and John makes a good foil. Hope everyone gives them a chance.

Unfortunately, MSNBC has turned into a TV version of yellow journalism. I am so disappointed in their programming now -- it's all prison documentaries and lurid predator stories; but I do like Morning Joe and I hope it stays right where it is. I've started watching it instead of the TODAY show, which has gotten ridiculous.

Actually, Morning Joe is growing on me. I wasn't in favor of the Imus firing, but Joe Scarborough is more relaxed than on his evening show. I am also not a conservative but find Joe's moderate approach much more refreshing than, say, Tucker Carlson's self-righteous persona. His sidekicks, Mica, John and Willie Geist all combine to give a great balance. Also, its good to see Dan Abrams in front of the camera again.
Count me among those completely turned off by the countless "Lock-up" prison exposes, and ad nauseum investigative shows on MSNBC. And does anyone really want to see Chris Hanson and another repeat of the Predator series yet again? I think there are enough promising reporters, such as David Gregory or Campbell Brown, to provide even more great shows than this tired old stuff they shove down our throats every night starting at 10 pm and all weekend.
But thumbs up to Joe & Co.

Sounds like Joe has been working the pole. And by pole, of course I mean ratings poll. Everybody knows that.

Getting to like the show but would really wish that Joe would shut up a little so his guestd can finish a sentence. Can't understand why people want to be a guest on his show when they never get to say anything without him interupting.

Morning Joe is unwatchable. Scarborough giggles at Mica, Mica giggles at Scarborough. Scarborough comments on Mica's hair, Mica rolls eyes and checks camera angle. Ridley smiles, drools and points ridiculous magic marker at camera. Scarborough giggles, Mica sips coffee from straw, checks camera angle, rolls eyes. Ridley reminds audience he is a writer for the 14th time, points magic marker, Scarborough giggles. These three no-talent schmucks should not be allowed anywhere near a camera. MSNBC strikes out again. Scarborough giggles, Mica rolls eyes, Ridley points magic marker.

Medster--right on target.
I miss Imus' ability to cut throught the crap and still be entertaining and even amusing. To your point, Scarborough is in love with his own voice to the point that no guest has ever been allowed to finish an entire thought--even an entire sentence. How annoying. It's cleat there are VERY few sponsors for this disaster--note the moronic "head-on" commercials that are replayed a hundred times each morning. I feel certain those companies that righteously dumped Imus because Reverend Al told them to, now wish mightily they had held their ground. Bring back Don Imus and send Scarborough and his simpering crew back to the nighttime hours--where most of us can ignore them.

Mica, Ridley and Willy understand how to stimulate intelligent conversation. Joe tries to monopolize the conversation. When Mica, John Ridley or Willie Geist attempt to contribute to the conversation - he is obviously annoyed. Spoiled Brat syndrome? Please, tell him to stop calling in and interrupting the current excellent "community of thought." Get him off!
Thank you for reading this.

Ridley is just Imus in reverse. Today he blamed societal ills on "rich white men" and lambasted Al Gore for failing as a parent. In addition, he repeatedly labeled global warming as a hoax and misrepresented a Boston Globe article as "proof". In fact, while the article does offer one theory that the ice on Greenland might be more resistant to warming than previouslyl though, it also reaffirms global warming as a man-made event, even by the scientists who have put forth the new Greenland evidence. When Scarborough called Joe Wilson a "scumbag" on the air last week I let it pass and stayed with the show, but Ridley's crazy speech today has forced me back to the radio in the morning.

I am surprised to hear so many people are enjoying the Morning Jo show and that the network is seriously considering making it permanent. Sad day that will be. I keep hoping MSNBC will come to their senses and tell Morning Joe he has to go. He ruins my breakfast with his constant talking and repeating of the same thoughts. I feel embarrassed for him, as his guests and co hosts wait to see if he will ever shut up. I like Willie- seems intelligent and witty - it was great to have him hosting and then Joe had to call in!!! Mika has potential - she seems to have some compassion and class. Ridley is too full of himself and how ridiculous his rant on global warming sounded again this AM. Enough with the "double wide" put downs and the babe comments. I wish Mika would do more than roll her eyes. Joe's jokes are not even clever - just dumb and borderline offensive . The Today may have to go back on. Like I said- sad day.

I liked Stephanie Miller very much in this slot. I was hoping she would get it--sometimes Joe is a little too overbearing and talks right over Ridley & Mica--I've heard him say 'be quiet" one time too many--yeah, the show is called 'Morning Joe' but sometimes he makes me flip the channel with his know it all demeanor. Ridley & Mica both hold it down pretty good--I won't be surprised when Joe has some new people to kick--oops, I mean side kicks!

Well MSNBC has finally almost got it tight. They have a morning show with a great journalist in Mika Brezinsky, and an op-ed in John Ridley. But sad to say they are overshadowed by Joe Scarborough who has an ego bigger than their former host Don Imus. Keep up the good work and keep looking for someone else named Joe.
Walter Ward
PS. Watched Joe Scarborough all the time when he was on in the evening. Thought he was great! Has this program gone to his head? Even Imus give his guests and opportunity to speak without interuption.

I have grown to like Joe Scarborough and he is a good repalcement for Imus.My initial perception of Scarborough wa that he was another idiotic right wing radical christian nut ball following the dictates of the dumbest president history of the U.S. However, he does listen to everyone , appears well read and has developed the ability to think for himself. Too bad he had the clown Chertoff on the program.

I have grown to like Joe Scarborough. When he was initially on in the evening I thought he was another right wing radical conservative christian nutball. But he has grown from a Newt wannabe and a Bush lackey to an independent thinker. He appears to listen, appears well read and finally can see the forest foer the trees. Joe finally realizes that the the Bush administration, the worst administration in the history of the US, has made us less safe from all possible emergencies.
