Starting July 14 at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m., Discovery Health will air a new program called Doctor*ology, a look at all the different "ologies" going on at your local hospital.
The series will be hosted by actor Leslie Nielsen, who will inject a bit of comedy into each episode along with his nephew, Robert. Based on the press releases, expect an educational program with plenty of goofy comedy to make it appealing.
I love science-y stuff, but what draws me to the concept of this show is Nielsen himself. I'm hoping that, like Alan Alda on Scientific American Frontiers, Nielsen will serve as a guide for the layman, the person who asks all the questions benighted people like myself want to ask. If he can do that and also make me laugh, I'm all for it. Also, it would be funny if one of the lab technitians was really tall and his head was always out of frame.
The first two episodes will deal with neurology and traumatology. Other episodes will delve into such practices as cardiology, otolaryngology and hepatology.

The show originated here in Canada and aired a few months ago on the Discovery Channel. It's very sitcom-y, it's not "hosted" by Nielsen, and that's not really his nephew. You can watch some videos of it here:

Alas, you can't watch the videos unless you're in Canada, the web site doesn't allow it. What's with that.
