Brett Cullen has been replaced in the new CW series Life is Wild. This really comes as very little shock since I can't think of anyone who was looking forward to this series.
Cullen is being replaced by D.W. Moffett who was most recently seen on the summer series Hidden Palms. You may also remember Moffett from such forgettable series as Skin & For Your Love.
Personally, I think Moffett is a little young to play a seasoned veterinarian and father of a teenager, but I'm sure his youth had a lot to do with the recast.
Recasts of this type are quite common around this time. The networks will test the pilot of the show on "typical" TV viewers and will often replace actors based on their reaction.
I will never forget when my friend and podcast co-host Jim Bruce went to watch the pilot of King of Queens in which comedy legend Jack Carter played the role of Arthur. As we all know, that part eventually went to Jerry Stiller who was probably the best part of the show.
Keep your eye out for other recastings as the summer progresses.

Moffett is 52, Cullen is 50. Both of them should be the fathers of grad students, not high schoolers.

Moffett is 52? He is one exceptional looking 52 year old man.
I just saw this pilot and Cullen is in like 75% of the scenes. That's gonna be a big ol' reshoot.

Not at all. A 52-year-old might have toddlers, especially if he dumped his first or second wife for a trophy. But the fool who wrote the piece said Moffett was a little young to be a seasoned veterinarian and father of a teenager. I was simply pointing out that he is old enough to easily be a grandfather, and if he was a successful vet, retired.
And, Moffett is way hotter than Cullen.
