I am so incredibly giddy about this news, I don't even know where to begin. As a hardcore fan of the original The Office, my heart fills with glee whenever I see a mention of the show or one of the cast members. It's not that I want a third series, I just still need little things to guide me through this four year case of withdrawal. Heck, I spent the entirety of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy being the only girl who wasn't swooning over Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom because I was so happy to see gangly, wooden-eyed Mackenzie Crook onscreen.Well, good news for anyone else who is still in need of some Office love. July 1st's Concert for Diana in London will feature a multitude of stars to celebrate Princess Diana's life. Among those stars will be Office stars Ricky Gervais and Mackenzie Crook, performing "Free Love Freeway" before introducing Sir Elton John.
There's no word on whether or not Martin Freeman will join in for some last-minute, high-pitched harmony, but I wouldn't count on it. Also, it's funny that in that very same episode as "Free Love Freeway", Brent serenaded Dawn with a Princess Di song to try and soothe her broken heart. I guess it wouldn't have been very appropriate to sing the Princess Di song at the concert...

It's a song about a pretty girl whose car breaks down. And it includes this exchange:
David: Goin' home 'cause my baby's gone.
Gareth: She's dead!
This isn't going to remind anyone of anything? It would be funny anywhere EXCEPT at a concert for Princess Diana.

Yes, and the actor who played Gareth will be part of the performance. So even if he doesn't say the line, people will be thinking of it.
In any case, a comedic performance about a woman who has car trouble isn't right for a tribute to Princess Diana. Isn't this obvious?

Funny. I would think "The Office" crowd would perform "Good night, my sweet princess." As Dawn pointed out, that song was originally about Princess Di. Then David and Gareth tried to explain how Lady Di dying in Paris applied to her romantic relationship.
Gareth: Your relationship is a bit of a car crash.
Dawn: In Paris?
Gareth: City of Love.
