How do you feel about a beer drinkin', womanizing host of The Price is Right? I don't know Bob Barker, but I'm pretty sure that's very unlike him. But it is the persona that Drew Carey has cultivated over the years.Drew Carey is the latest name to be mentioned for hosting The Price is Right, according to Variety. Apparently CBS and FremantleMedia North America have already spoken to Carey about the gig. Carey is already in a relationship with CBS as he is hosting the game show, Power of 10, which premieres in August. Variety says Carey makes sense as host of The Price is Right because of his "mainstream, blue-collar appeal." Carey joins Rosie O'Donnell, George Hamilton, John O'Hurley, Todd Newton and Mark Steines as possible replacements for Bob Barker.
What do you think about Drew Carey as host of The Price is Right? Personally, I think he's too much of an a--hole. I'd rather see someone like Tom Bergeron in that position.

CLAY AIKEN!!!!!
he is your host. Call him up get a 15 year commitment and add a "Sound of Money" game where he has to sing every 30th episode. It isn't that hard people.

I actually think that Drew Carey would make a pretty good host for PIR. He's funny, good at improv, and while he hasn't gone for the "old lady and unemployed people" demographic that PIR has traditionally appealed to, his brand of humor is one that will play well to that crowd.
I'm actually kind of surprised though that in all of this, no one has mentioned Jeff Foxworthy.

Carey would be fantastic. Ever seen him on Whose Line? He'd be perfect for that audience. Give him the gig!

Drew Carey? No thanks!I think now only the tannest man on tv, George Hamilton could get me to watch TPiR.
Truly Bob was the best and anyone after him is just a decline. I hate it when people see something that works ( like a silver fox male show host) and goes 'that did great, how can we change it?'! And then go one to ruin what was a good thing. It's like when Family Feud ditched Richard Dawson, for me it went down hill from there.

Rosie O'Donnell??? UGH! I will never watch the show if she gets the job. I love the show and have watched it mostly because of the likeability of Bob Barker. Trust me, if Rosie gets the job there will be one less viewer. I CAN'T STAND THE WOMEN, she's replusive!!!!

Ummm, Jeff Foxworthy is tied up with a little show of his own on another network, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. I doubt Fox would be willing to let him out of that contract since the show has become a surprise hit. That's probably why no one has mentioned his name! Whoever they choose, I think they need to stay away from celebrities that bring their own spotlight with them. They would only overshadow the game. I like the idea of the CBS Morning Show weather guy better than any of the others.

John O'Hurley? Please he is awful on Family Feud. And Bob Barker may not drink beer, but he is certainly a womanizer!

I agree with lucyfan62 - you can't bring Foxworthy onto this show for two reasons: the show he's already on that's a hit, and the fact that he's got a history...
On 5th grader, he's made *one* redneck joke. *ONE*. That's a nice nod to how he made it. If he were on TPiR the show would be filled with redneck jokes I suspect.
I think they need to find a charismatic but relative unknown (or smart and funny but still short of breakthrough comedian) to host the show. Going the celebrity route will kill it.

I have watched the Price is Right since its beginning. If CBS and its producers install "Rosie" on the show, I promise you that I will never watch it again. Want a great host, try Tom Bergeron who would fit the image of that the Price is Right has earned over these 35 years. Don't make the mistake of making it a political or "loud mouth platform".

I have seen Drew Carey on 'Whose Line...' and I think he's terrible. He actually can't improv very well. He does an okay job dealing with the audience, though.
I agree with LucyFan that TPIR needs to stay away from celebrities who bring their own spotlight. Especially in the case of O'Hurley, Hamilton, O'Donnell and Carey... it'll be all about them.

Actually .... now that you mention it Drew Carry would be PERFECT for such a job.
I mean, really, what's Rosie gonna do? Make Tom Cruise jokes and tell people about the evil troops when they just want to guess the price on the showcase showdown???
Most of those people are red stater's anyway.

Why don't they have a contest? Though.. if O'Hurley is participating, he might throw a fit if he doesn't win....
