There probably comes a time in every controversy where the person involved should just...stop...talking.
Fired Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington is now comparing himself to Malcolm X and Paul Robeson. He isn't happy about getting canned from the show after he apologized, went to "rehab" and did everything the network asked him to do, and now he wonders if it's because of who he is and not what he did.
"Maybe for 50 years and the history of media and television I represent something that's supposed to not exist...This happened to Malcolm X, this happened to Paul Robeson -- this misconception can happen to any man of power that loves himself and wants to spread that love and that humanity throughout the world."
It's probably not a good idea to talk about yourself in that type of historical context. I mean, the guy was let go for saying homophobic remarks and acting like a jerk on the set in general. I'm trying to think, what TV show was Malcolm X on again?

Is this guy for real! The more he talks it lessens his chances of ever getting a acting gig.

What a self-important a-hole. I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back and watch any of the episodes of "Grey's" that featured him. Which ticks me off, because I really used to like his character. Does he not realize he's digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole EVERY SINGLE TIME he opens his mouth?

The best part about this is that it’s only going to get better. A studio would have to be crazy to hire him at this point and as he gets turned down for more and more jobs he’s going to continue to make excuses to himself which inflate his already massive ego.
The press loves him because he throws out these crazy quotes so they are going to keep taking his phone calls every time he wants to pontificate on why he’s so great and why the world won’t hire him for anything because they’re jealous of him.
That, my friends, is a recipe for years of quality entertainment.

He and Rosie O'Donnell should have a talk show together.

*sigh* I don't think that there was any need to "spread the love" as David put it.
Washington does need help, and it seems like he's subscribing to the idea that there is no such thing as bad press. Considering that the press that's being generated is all due to him opening his mouth and, well, saying what he's saying, he should probably go sit in that hole he's dug for himself for awhile and get over himself.
As for comparing himself to MalcolmX that's like Paris Hilton comparing herself to Princess Diana (which she did not too long ago, stating that they're both "iconic blondes" for their generation) - that's idiotic and an insult to the individual that they're comparing themselves too. When Washington does something that's worthy of high praise and selflessness, then we can start talking historic comparisons.

What's sad is that I always thought this guy was a very talented actor. I never saw Grey's as it's not my thing, but from what I hear it's a good example of that kind of show, and he was pretty good on it.
It's a shame when someone confuses the depth of their talent with the size of their ego. He's really been coming across as a REAL prick since this whole thing started. Maybe Patrick Dempsey should have just cracked him in the face and he'd have shut up.
Plus, I remember thinking he did a very good job in his small role in Out Of Sight. . .as an aggressive prick. Hmmmmm. Perhaps there was less acting involved there than I thought. . .

I've never watched Grey's Anatomy before, and I don't know this guy, but he needs to shut the fuck up. Rosie O'Donnell, Paris Hilton, Phil Specter, Lindsey Lohan, Donald Trump, etc, and this guy all need to shut the fuck up and fucking go away. All of there stories are tired. As for this guy, people get written off of tv shows all the time, maybe they were done with him or something. Regardless, people get fired all the time in actual working conditions. Suck it up and be a man.

As far as unhinged actors go, Washington is no where near a toxic level. He's full of himself. Shocker. Next he'll be talking about what a good actor he is. Ooh, I'm scared.
Regardless of the "incident" I do think his dismissal was a mistake and isn't going to help GA in the least. At least Burke was written as a mature human being. The rest of the show could is becoming increasingly puerile.
