Several weeks ago, Senator Hillary Clinton asked the public to help her come up with a theme song for her presidential campaign. And then The Sopranos ended its historic run. And it was too much of a good opportunity to pass up.
So Hillary and hubby Bill made a video for her web site discussing what song the Senator had selected. Only the video is a parody of the Sopranos' last scene in the diner, with Hillary as Carmela, Bill as Tony, Chelsea as the parallel parking Meadow, a bowl of carrot sticks substituting for onion rings (Bill's got heart problems) and an abrupt cut-to-black.
See the video after the jump. (And if you have a burning desire to find out what campaign song Clinton chose, you can go here.)

You forgot to mention that the video also features Vince Curatola (Johnny Sack) who ironically didn't make it to the finale.

This backfired. Hillary can't even do something for fun without looking uncomfortable & phony. I want her to go away.
I know he wasted valuable time with pointless lies about sexcapades, as opposed to pointless lies about a war(if I slam one side, I have to slam the other), but can't we have Bill back again?
Good work everyone. David Chase is looking at this somewhere now saying, "Maybe I should have just shown them kill Tony."

Very clever video. Good for Hillary showing she has a sense of what people are talking about.
Its vintage Clinton campaigning.

Johnny Sac lives!
It was kinda cute, but what's up with that song choice. A song that was used for tourism to Canada! Is there a hidden message there...

The ultimate irony of this whole thing is that Hillary pretty much is Carmela:
Her husband cheats on her, while she puts on a face of denial about it, and in doing this, she sold out her dignity in order to get what she wants. Instead of jewelry & cars, she gets a congressional seat. The more you see her, the more fake she gets. Just like Carmela.
Except Edie Falco makes this alot more believable than Hillary ever could.

hold on while I puke.
In typical Clintonian pandering, are we to even believe she's even seen an episode of the sopranos?
America, please take the Bushes and the Clintons out of politics. I think we all need a break from them after 20 years is long enough.

I love this parody. It's nice to see some lighthearted videos by politicians once in a while (like the Richardson campaign ads).
#2, of course she looks uncomfortable. Hillary has never been the greatest, most charistmatic public speaker, as shown in her speeches. It doesn't mean she's necessarily fake. I do think it's exaggerated though whenever she appears with Bill, since he's so great and a natural public speaker.

This is amateur night, a real nightmare. The Clintoons, are at again. The new Ralph Nader (AL GORE), and the Clintoons copy cats, need better material.

Ugh, and she did this in the Pleasantville Diner in Pleasantville, NY, right next to Chappaqua where her "New York home" is. As if this is her hometown diner or something like that. I live here too, and if she wins this election, I'll always have mixed/disgruntled feelings about it because she never was, and never will be, a New Yorker. She only moved to her house in Chappaqua LESS THAN A YEAR before deciding to run for Senator in our state.

OK, this is hysterical. I still don't want her to be president (come back, Bill! All is forgiven!), but this was just too funny.

I thought it was pretty clever to do a homage to The Sopranos finale to announce the campaign song.
I got the email from the Clinton campaign and was pretty impressed that they did something with some humor.

So what will she now be known as, Carmela Clinton or Hillary Soprano?

I saw the Clintons' "Sopranos" parody on Olbermann along with another parody done by baseball mascots. Personally, I thought the one with the mascots was funnier and more true to the original ending. Whoever was behind the Clintons' clip didn't quite get it. I know it was just an intro for the unveiling of the campaign song. But considering all the speculation that Tony was offed when the screen went black, I'm not sure it was a good idea to have Hillary as "Tony" flipping through the jukebox song titles. It gives the impression that she was done in after the screen faded to black.

Lighten up folks. This was very clever.....especially having Johnny Sacks there. I liked this a lot better than a lot of other ads out there and for once it was nice to see a political ad not slamming an opponent.

Hilarious! Between Hillary-Sopranos and Obama Girl, political campaigning is becoming much more fun to watch! http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2007/06/hillary-clinton-and-sopranos.html
