Your dad is worse than Homer Simpson

HomerA new study at Marymount Manhattan College has concluded that real-life dads are less supportive and accepting than dads on sitcoms. Happy Father's Day!

The study went like this: a communications researcher showed episodes of various TV comedies, including The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, My Wife and Kids and George Lopez, to 108 college students and then asked them how the TV dads compared to their real-life dads. In every instance, the TV dad was better than the real dad.

Um...yeah, really scientific. Shocking that sitcom dads, who solve problems in 22 minutes and often have hot wives even if they're overweight and lazy, would come across as better than real-life, where money problems, health problems, work schedules and everything else can come into play.

I wonder if the study also says that witty banter isn't as clever in real-life as on sitcoms?
