Iconic TV director James Burrows has joined the FOX series Back to You as an executive producer and the main director for at least the first season.
While I've personally never been a huge fan of the sitcoms Burrows has been involved with (Cheers, Friends, Dharma and Greg, Will and Grace, Fraiser, Two and a Half Men, countless others), it's no secret the man has a way of propelling sitcoms to new heights, which is undoubtedly what the hope is for Back to You. Also, let me quickly add that I understand the appeal of many of Burrows' series, I'm just not wired for their style of humor. It could be a factory defect, I don't know.
Back to You stars Kelsey Grammer, Patricia Heaton and Fred Willard as members of a news team in Pittsburgh who reunite after their main anchor, played by Grammer, returns after being disgracefully fired from his position in a bigger market.

I'm sorry you're not hard-wired for Jim Burrows' kind of comedy, but I certainly am! I am very gratified to hear that he'll be having a hand in this show. With this cast, and his direction, I have high hopes.

Too bad it has Patricia Heaton in it. Raging ***** is the most apt characterization of her persona, I think, both on- and off-screen. Every time she has been on a late night talk show, it has been a disaster for me as a viewer. She's sooooo unlikeable.

No one can argue with Burrows' success on "Cheers" -- one of the greatest shows of all time -- but you overlooked some of his other "pilot" efforts over the last 10 years: "Pearl," "Fired Up," "Good Morning, Miami," "Bram and Alice" and "Four Kings."

And it's a sitcom set in the 'Burgh! Hopefully they'll show some of the amazing culture, food, and history of the area. Or, at least mention the Steelers ;) I have NO doubt, however, that they will not let anyone talk with a Pittsburgh accent. No series or movie set here ever does. The closest would be when Gung Ho was set here, and you get to hear Michael Keaton (Pittsburgh native, and likely trying to get some notion of the dialect in the film) call someone a "jagoff". Classic :)
