If you love The Soup on E!, then you're not me, because I don't.
Nevertheless, the weekly funny round-up of all things reality TV-ish and talk show-y will be expanding to two nights a week starting June 18.
In addition to its usually spot on Friday nights at 10:00, six special episodes will air on Monday nights at the same time. These special episodes will offer a look back on some of the best moments from the past year, complete with new commentary from host Joel McHale. Here's what's on tap:
-
June 18: "The Best of the Worst Dating Show Moments"
-
June 25: "The Best of the Worst Talk Show Moments"
-
July 16: Clips from talent shows
-
July 23: Commercials
-
July 2 and 9: "The Soup Presents: Half Year Best Of" (two-parter, title may change)
I'll admit I've only caught The Soup a couple of times and gave up on it rather quickly, but I always felt that, if it weren't for the "crew" laughing at McHale's quips, the show wouldn't evoke nearly as many laughs as it seems to. Still, I would rather much rather watch clips from these reality shows with McHale's commentary rather than the shows themselves, so who am I to complain?

The crew reactions are the best part! Joel McHale is one of the most underrated talents on TV today!

How did Whitney put it so eloquently? Oh yea "KISS MY ASS!".
That's not directed at you Adam, it's just the best clip on the show!
The show rocks, and so does the little Chihuahua. Give it another shot Adam... maybe you just need a Bahamavention?

I'm surprised Adam doesn't like The Soup. Joel's hosting reminds me of someone reading one of Adam's blog posts aloud. I mean that as a compliment.
Sure Joel throws in too many lame puns for his own good, but how else would I have even known that some of these pointless reality shows exist?
If I had the time I might invite some friends over to watch TV and come up with my own snarky, witty comments, but having Joel spoon-feed the clips and quips is a fine alternative.

I'm also surprised about Adam's blatant disinterest of Talk Soup, as it covers just about everything TV Squad does.
Anyway, I'm excited about it showing twice a week.. I miss the old days when they'd run it every weeknight, but this is better.
More Hamwinkies, Mankini, and the extremely destructible cheerleader. Lou FTW!

I don't know Adam, I think my mancrush might be wearing off... How could you not love the Soup? I agree with the earlier posters that this show is very Finley-esque with its sarcastic wit. I'm a little sad. Single tear...

The Soup has its ups and downs...it goes through a few weeks of being so good, then it has some not so good weeks. Clip selection is, I think, what makes or breaks the show. Springer Hustle is helping.
Some weeks, though, Best Week Ever is better. The Soup relies on the clips being funny, while BWE relies on people making funny jokes ABOUT the clips, IMO.
The Soup rules though....KISSMYASS!!!!!!!

HA!
Look ... as Dennis Miller once said, a sense of humor is just that: a sense. I understand that something somebody finds funny may not be hilarious to the next guy.
That said, I was still ready to unleash a post filled with hellfire scorn towards Adam for his disinterest in "The Soup". But, after I come to the comments board, I notice that EVERYONE shares my opinion.
Adam's in the minority indeed.
"Much love." "See you in Harlem!"

I look forward to the soul every single week. It's the best pop culture show on TV. Joel McHale is awesome (almost as good as Aisha Taylor when she did it a million years ago and it was just called Talk Soup.
Joel is also a lead one of the nbc sitcoms this fall, I think either Chuck or the I.T. one.
