First American Idol's Ryan Seacrest had a scene-stealing cameo in this year's big summer comedy, Knocked Up. And now, last season's runner-up Katharine McPhee will be making her big screen debut in The Last Caller. Katharine said, "This is the first thing that I read that I really wanted to do." Kat added, "I'm up for a couple of big studio projects, but they weren't starring roles. I wanted to start off doing something a little different. It's something that a lot of people wouldn't expect me doing." The indie film, written by Michael Albanese, is described as a dark romantic comedy.
After coming in second to Taylor Hicks last year, Katharine released a self-titled album in January which ended up at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard chart. She also made a guest cameo appearance during sweeps on Ugly Betty playing herself. I thought she was a bit awkward in that role. Let's hope she can play a fictional character in a dark comedy better than she played herself.

If someone made a film that was nothing but Katherine McPhee painting her toenails, I would go see it.
