Ever since Don Imus made his little, um, faux pas a while back, viewers have been wondering who will eventually take over his morning slot on MSNBC. Right now they have a rotating group of hosts, including Joe Scarborough, David Gregory, and Jim Cramer, but several execs (including network GM Dan Abrams) have been impressed by Scarborough.
Right now Scarborough hosts a nightly show, Scarborough Country, at 9pm after Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Scarborough will again host the morning program next week, and a decision about a permanent host should be made very soon.
Hmmm...I gotta say, does it really make a difference? It would be great to get a good host in there and MSNBC should try to get the best, but if they take Scarborough out of the nightly lineup, what will they put in there? I would assume more "Doc-Block" taped features. Or would they put another show in there after Olbermann and leave the documentaries at 10pm?
I hear Rosie's available...

Please, God, no more Doc-blocs. Joe is ok in the morning, but if he stays, please replace Mica. I gather that MSNBC wants to play it safe; I personally still miss Imus, and if he turns up somewhere else, I will go there.
As for Rosie, I happen to be one of the people who is not bothered by her. Overly PC behavior makes me crazy, but she is too much of a hot potato at this point for any network other than HBO or Showtime to handle. I hope she finds her niche. I'll watch her - it's Elizabeth Hasselbeck I couldn't srand. If Rosie turned her head the wrong way the cable shows and internet blogs had a field day. When Hasselbeck gets all shrill and screamy, its still Rosie's fault. Unbelievable.
Haven't made up my mind about Joe - I like David Gregory better.

I watched all the temporary MSNBC replacements and my vote is for Michael Smerconish. His week was the most entertaining by far.

Stephanie Miller was great! MSNBC could use a woman host - nothing but big male mouths have all the shows.

Scarborough has been the best. David Gregory or Tucker Carlson have been the worst. They wont go with Smerconish or Miller because they would be in the same situation with Imus where they didnt own the show.

I liked David Gregory the best, especially wiht the old Imus crew of Charles Mccord , Lou, and Chris. Joe ould be my second choice, but maybe put the Imus crew on. I also was not bothered by Rosie, Elisabeth on the other hand drives me nuts. No more view for me.

"Morning Joe", Joe Scarborough interviewing on phone Dan Rather is the most honest "news" I have heard in a long time.
MSNBC is finally on the right track and Joe can be "my reporter of choice, along with Lou Dobbs at night".
Joe needs to interview all the anti-illegal immigration groups including the 2.7 million members of the American Legion who have joined with ALIPAC to fight this giveaway of America.
I spend 4 hours a day watching cable news networks and quit watching FOX entirely because of the Bush administration spin they put on everything.

BRING BACK IMUS!!!!!!!! He is the only one I would ever watch on MSNBC. Scarborough and Gregory are nice enough guys but this isn't their spot. I love Cramer but not here. Stephaine Miller was the only sub even remotely entertaining. Smerconish??? PLEASE!!!!!
That would make MSNBC Fox Lite.

Re: Mornin' Joe, too much inane frivolity and all talking at once and inside jokes. Reminds me of Fox and Friends yuk. I like Mika, altho' none of them are comedians. I thought this show was for the viewers, not for their entertainment. Also, Joe seems to like to add his own opinions (one upsmanship?) when inteviewing and interrupting the news. Some of us would like to hear the news!
I live out West, so I record the show. Especially nice for the Imus show, because I could fast forward through Bo Dietl and Sid Rosenberg (more offensive than anyone else on the show).
If Dan Abrams chooses Joe, I hope he reminds Joe that if they insist on the comedy? routine at least don't all talk at once. Of course I can fast forward through all the stupid stuff and switch to CNN for the morning news.

Rasmussen Reports
Just 16% Believe Senate Bill Will Reduce Illegal Immigration
Wednesday, May 30, 2007
There’s a simple reason the immigration bill being debated by the U.S. Senate is unpopular with voters—the general public doesn’t believe it will reduce illegal immigration. And, in the minds of most voters, that’s what immigration reform is all about.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 16% of American voters believe illegal immigration will decline if the Senate bill is passed. Seventy-four percent (74%) disagree. That figure includes 41% who believe the Senate bill will actually lead to an increase in illegal immigration.
If voters had a chance to improve the legislation, 75% would “make changes to increase border security measures and reduce illegal immigration.” Just 29% would” make it easier for illegal immigrants to stay in the country and eventually become citizens.”
Voters who believe that the current bill will succeed in reducing illegal immigration favor its passage by a 51% to 31% margin. Those who believe the bill will lead to even more illegal immigration oppose its passage by a 70% to 12% margin.
Overall, despite a major push by the President and others over the past week, support for the Senate bill has not increased at all. In polling conducted last night (Tuesday, May 29), 26% of voters favor passage of the bill. That’s unchanged from the 26% support found in polling conducted the previous Monday and Tuesday. Forty-eight percent (48%) of voters remain opposed.
Topics: illegal immigration, Guest Worker Program, Senate, Congress, President George Bush, S. 1348, Stop the Senate! Amnesty, Scamnesty!
Eighty-one percent (81%) of American voters are closely following news stories about the issue, including 37% who are following it Very Closely. Those with the highest interest in the issue oppose the legislation by a 3-to-1 margin (69% to 23%). By a 55% to 15% margin, those following the story Very Closely believe the bill will lead to increased levels of illegal immigration.
Unaffiliated voters are now more opposed to the bill than either Republicans or Democrats. Among those who don’t identify with either of the major parties, 22% support the Senate bill while 57% are opposed.

No one can replace Imus. The women are not good to watch early in the AM, too much like Fox and their idiocy. It is good that Charles is still there. The Charisma is missing. And the new ones are trying too hard, too stiff, too sophisticated and shallow. No heart, or passion is showing. Imus sure had that in all ways.

I love love love Morning Joe! He is terrific with a wonderful personality. Joe is a awesome interviewer. Msnbc has very interesting guests; he is always equally fair with everyone and so funny. Joe makes you feel good inside. I am glad he has the same format as Imus. I love msnbc's beautiful set with the changing colors. The music is terrific. I am also glad to see Charles.

I vote to put Imus back on.They can search all over the world , but they will never find another Imus. He is truly ,the best of the best in intertainment , news commentary, folksy, bright ,and he never misses a thing.
I think that MSNBC is losing big time .When they fired Imus, they didnt help them selves at all. I say put Imus back on , and tell him the rules ,no putting down any ethnic group. He is a smart guy.
Joe in the Morning is boring,,,,,,they have nothing to say, or talk about. It is high & dry. The only time I watch it now is when they have Chris, Lou, and Charles on.
Even those 3 brighten my day, and then I say if only Imus could be setting in that chair that Joe is setting in!
ALL I CAN SAY IS MSNBC ,P-L-E=A=S=E ,BRING THE IMAN BACK!!!!!!!

Joe is fine at night, but, irritates the hell out of me in the morning! I guess he's not getting enough sleep, what with having to do his evening show and then then then morning show. PLEASE, for the love of God, bring back Imus! Do the suits at MSNBC and CBS, have any idea the amount of angst and depression they have brought upon hundreds of thousands of people???? Jesus, Joseph, and Mary! Don Imus was the one sane voice on the airwaves that we could listen to, relate to, trust to figure out the dumb sh*t for us! He was the ONLY one asking the important questions, pushing the "fat white guys in power" for answers! I can't be the only person in America that feels this way!??? Joe, you are fine, but, you are no Don Imus! *insert Lucinda Williams song, "Are You Alright", here*...to, the I-man. "You alright, baby?" Imus, I will gladly pay to hear you again, please consider XM or Serius! Miss you, Charles, Bernie, Lou, Rob, Larry, Dierdre and Wyatt!

Morning Joe rules, would be the best decision MSNBC has made Joe may be conservative BUT both sides prove better to be one-sided, are you listeining Chris & Tucker thats why there showes are going down, down, down, this am Chris said Educated Women don't like Hillary only non-educated working women do, guess what Chris we go to work everyday and don't party with beltway people we are the force that keeps narrow minded people like you on the air. Also ask Katleen Kennedy Townsend if the senator from Illinois reminds her of her father I'am sure you will look as stuned as Mike Barnicle did when he asked her who she was backing. Joe and Mika & John are a joy to wake up to. Keep it up Joe and by the way I am a Liberal, Independent, Democrate that thanks you for not being soooooooo one sided on Senator Clinton, yes we are out here in the REAL america and we work, take our children to school, make it on a paycheck Mr Matthews could not image living on, and OH YES WE VOTE and YES WE KNOW WE ARE NOT THE EDUCATED ONES< But then they are to busy talking to you, someone who never leaves the beltway.

I like Morning Joe very much and I think it is an excellent replacement for Imus. Imus did good interviews but I couldn't take all of Imus' high testosterone BS. I like Joe better in this format in the morning than his night time show. Joe does good interviews too and I think will only get more comfortable in this format over time. A good news show to wake up to and good chemistry with John and Mikka.
