I mentioned earlier that BBC America was pushing out older series like Benny Hill to make way for newer fare. Well, that's exactly what's happening: Hill is out, and soon Torchwood and Hotel Babylon will be moving in, along with the second seasons of Life on Mars and Vincent.
You can expect to see Hotel Babylon in August, and Vincent and Torchwood sometime in September. There is no date set for Life on Mars just yet.
Torchwood, as most of you know, is a spinoff of Doctor Who. If you want a taste of what the series is like, check out Martin's reviews. Martin also wrote some great reviews of Life on Mars. You can search this site for those, as well. The series centers on a man who goes back in time to solve a crime. Its first season is currently airing on BBC America.

It makes sense that BBC America wants to show Torchwood and Hotel Babylon. They are fantastic shows. SciFi shows Dr. Who, so it'll be interesting for those that are going to see the new series of Doctor Who, and the return of Jack later in the series, that will not have seen Torchwood, and Jack's revelations from Torchwood because people do not have BBCA.
Hotel Babylon makes sense, but unless BBCA is going to show Torchwood before this new series of Doctor Who airs in the States, there will be some confused fans.

Torchwood combined the worst of Doctor Who with the worst of Xfiles.
The acting was poor, the story quality very uneven, leaning toward the poor, and the character interactions astoundingly bad.
I watched most of the eps but had to give up. My short short review is that fan boys will love it non fan boys will probably take a pass.

Mike M, as for Torchwood being referenced in Series 3 of Doctor Who, that remains to be seen. RTD has stated that the Doctor would never appear in Torchwood (to limit the family fare from being bothered by the adult nature of Torchwood) I would imagine that we won't actually see much reference to Captain Jack's adventures in Torchwood. In fact, based off of his outfits in the previews I don't think the Captain Jack we will see in Series 3 will be the same Captain Jack from Torchwood (at least in a linear fashion)

That is a rather pedestrian description of Life on Mars. A better description would be "a present day police officer suffers an accident and wakes up as a cop in 1973. He doesn't know if he is in a coma, a time traveler or just crazy."

What I meant was the whole Jack being Immortal aspect, which will need to be explained when Jack does appear in Who. From the promo the BBC showed, the Doctor is aware the Rift had been used and was propelled forward in time when Jack grabbed hold of the TARDIS. My only point was that Who fans in the states may be left wondering what Jack's been doing since we last saw him...and they won't be able to find out because Torchwood is a Digital Cable net, not a regular cable outlet, so fans who see Jack at the end of Series 3 will need digital cable if they want to find out what Jack went about doing.

I watched Torchwood already and live in the States. I loved it. I like John Barrowman anyway and thought the actors/acresses did very well. I hear there will need to be about 2 minutes cut from each episode but none of what is cut will be important.
That was because in American each episode has to be 2 minutes shorter than oversees due to advertising.
