*If you haven't yet watched the season finale of 24, go far, far away from this blog post.*
Of all the developments that bugged me during the two-hour 24 season finale, the Chloe O'Brian plot turn was on my list of irksome moments.
In the midst of the end-of-the-day chaos, while Chloe was trying to track down the whereabouts of Jack Bauer's evil papa, she collapsed as her ex-husband Morris rushed to her side. Immediately, the folks who were with me in the TV Squad 24 live chat jokingly suggested that Chloe was pregnant, but I didn't think her ailment would be that obvious.
It couldn't be a pregnancy because having a pregnant woman faint is so cliched. Yet there she was, minutes later, lying in a hospital bed in the CTU medical unit telling Morris she was going to become a mama.
I don't know the time frame in which the seventh season of 24 will commence, whether the writers will zoom ahead in time so we won't be forced to endure Chloe's pregnancy, or witness (God forbid!) the birth of the love child or else they'd have to change the 24 intro to:
The following takes places after the appearance of the blue lines on the pregnancy stick.

Are you kidding? You KNOW the next season will be two weeks before her due date. No WAY would she have the baby in the middle of an international crisis. Wait, did her water just break? Stay tuned....

Next season will forward as long as it takes for Audrey to get better and fall in love with the psychologist who treated her, Chloe's kid to grow up to be able to walk and go to a kindergarten or school that could be taken over by kidnappers and... something third, fourth and fith (one being about the current president, one about Jack's past other than Audrey and one about somebody plotting something that could or couldn't be entertwined with the hostage situation).
Rinse repeat.

I thought they might take is somewhere interesting, like maybe Milo's brother had poisoned her, after all he did vanish pretty quick.

Ah, come one Merideth, where's your sense of romance?
This was a joyful bit of news in an otherwise very tense 24 hours. With all the terrible things that happened during the day, including the torture of poor Morris, it was delightful that he, and the rest of us, were treated to this grand news.
I hope we'll all be there next season for the Christening, and that they name the baby Milo.

Mr C, I honestly thought the same thing!! I am so glad that you brought that up because I thought that I was the only one who was thinking that.
When Chloe fainted, I was thinking that maybe Milo's brother drugged her or something because I did notice how quickly he disappeared. I mean, he did hug her as soon as he got to CTU, so he was close enough to drug her or inject her with something without her really noticing.
He seemed really mysterious and I thought maybe there would be some big twist at the end like Milo's bro would be some "bad guy" working for Russia, lol I don't know I was just expecting something really exciting or interesting to happen. I did not think that the writers would take the obvious route and do something so cliche like make her pregnant.

Yeah, "delightful".
Next thing we'll see is Jack going to a Little League Baseall Game picking up his son we didn't know about and ordering "extra ketchup, dammit" at Chuck-E-Cheese...

Bash-- I'm still holding that Josh will be that son. Of course I lost $20 on this subject already but I swear that's gonna come out eventually.
I kinda liked the pregnancy moment... but I like Chole so I'm all for anything to (hopefully) keep her character in the mix.

Oh you know if they used that cliche (and let's face it, this season was bloated with them). If the next season starts and she has not had the baby (reguardless of how far along she is), she will go into labor.
That is the BIG changes they talked about at the end of the episode. 24 NOW with more sweat and groaning. :)
As bad as this season was, I will still be tuning in next January. Its like crack, and now matter how bad it gets, I still need more.

LOL, Bash!
I thought the same thing "she's fainting, so she's pregnant."
It is cliched, but it's such a television cliche, right?? I've known lots of pregnant women, but I've never known one of them to faint. Ever. They puke, but I've never seen or heard of one fainting. Why is this, then, such a tv cliche? Is it more romantic than puking? Does it involve less special effects than fake puke? What?

There were rumours about 24 changing locations and cast. So may be this is a way to get Chloe out of CTU. She and drillbit live happily ever after at the local youth league games.

Someone that evens suggests a "pregnancy" with a main character in a show that's spanned five seasons should have their union card revoked. I can't believe in a writer's meeting it was even taken seriously.
It's such a freakin TV cliche that I was convinced there was no way they would do it, even after my wife said "uh oh, I bet she's pregnant." And this coming on the heels of the backlash the show was getting towards the end and the writers coming out and saying they heard what the fans where saying.

They better get the DNA testing kit out.
One of the Pressman brothers? Morris? Wasn't she also doing some other guy last season? Oh, yeah, that was too long ago, but, as evidenced, our gal Chloe gets around quite nicely, thank you.

Proof that Jack is Josh's father
During the 2 hour finale I noticed something very interesting. I happened to have the closed caption on and during the recap of the previous episode they showed when Jack rescued Josh and Cheng got away.
Josh is hanging from a girder and he calls out "Help!" to get Jack's attention .Interestingly enough, the caption does not match up with the sound track. On the caption after Josh yells "Help" and then he calls Jack "Dad". I rewound and put my TiVo on slow motion and you can read Josh's lips and clearly see that he calls Jack "Dad".
This sequence is during the first couple of minutes of the finale. Looks like the writers decided not to use that reveal then or maybe ever.

Amy -- I've seen plenty of pregnant women faint, or come very close to it. I've come close to it myself, and needed assistance to something to sit on.
As far as throwing up: What time of the day was it? Although a pregnant woman can become nauseated at any time, it's usually during the morning.

Please God, let Chloe go away and have her baby. We're tired of her "frown, lips twisted, eyes cast up to right" major acting feat that she imparts several times each episode. I imagine her CTU co-workers are tired of it too.

Chloe + Morris + baby = lame, lame, lame. The person who wrote this piece of drivel story line should be handed over to Jack for interrogation (and we all know what that would mean). But the person who approved this story line ought to be forced to watch this crap on an endless loop for three months, THEN be handed over to Jack for interrogation. Ahhhhh, I feel so much better now.

I seem to remember from a past season, I think season 2...when a baby mysteriously showed up at CTU, and they found Chloe taking care of it. They eventually wrote the baby out of the storyline (guess the writers changed their minds about that one), but someone at CTU said the baby couldn't be Chloe's - she had some kind of medical condition that prevented her from becoming pregnant. Anyone else remember this?
