All of you Jericho fans out there writing letters, sending emails, and signing petitions can give yourself a pat on the back. The show hasn't been brought back from cancellation yet, but getting the President of CBS Entertainment to post an update is no small feat. That President, Nina Tassler, posted an update to all of the fans on the Jericho Wiki over the weekend. You can read the full statement at the CBS site. In a nutshell, she says it was a hard decision, thanks the fans for their support, and teases that in the coming weeks they hope to develop a way to provide closure to the Jericho story.
That's the sticky wicket right there. "Develop" seems to imply the possibility of a tv movie, or maybe even a mini-series, to wrap things up. But we have been down this road before, where the closure came in the form of notes from the producers regarding what was planned. I think a movie or mini-series could work really well. There is already a built in audience, and it couldn't do any worse than whatever touchy-feely Hallmark movie event starring Valerie Bertinelli is already on the drawing board. Obviously, bringing the series back is the main goal for the fans, but what would you settle for?
[ thanks Jonathon ]

Well, it seems that the Jericho fans are getting some respect from CBS. Considering it was borderline cancellation anyway, I figure it will likely either be back, or CBS will develop w/one of their cable channels to help defray costs of a mini-series or a Season 2 to wrap things up.
Regardless of what happens, as long as CBS does something to make the fans happy--that's what matters. Basic customer service principles--make your customers happy, and they'll come back for other shows too. Piss them off, and it's going to be a long while before you regain their trust. And considering the problems with reaching audiences as of late for the networks...

No. It was all a dream. That's American TV writing at it's finest.

drop a bomb on the town... right in the middle of a scene, out of nowhere everything just ends.
that's the way to end a series and point out the uncertainty of life at the same time, not everything gets closure.

I can only hope TBTB will choose to do right by the fans of Jericho with either a renewal (preferred) or a mini series or continuing movie; so many other networks choose to give their fans the shaft instead. We fans are a fickle group and if certain networks continue to have really intricate storyline driven shows and then cancel said shows before the main question of the show is answered fans won't keep coming back year after year for new programming when the fans know they are going to just be kicked in the teeth for their loyalty, they are going to move on to networks that REWARD fan loyalty such as FX and their renewal of DIRT and the Riches or even worse for the networks the fans will wait until a show has been picked up for a second season and just by the DVD, I'm sure the sponsors would just LOVE that. Can you imagine if LOST had been cancelled after season one, not a nice thought is it.

I only watch two shows on TV... Jericho and Lost. That's it. Both are "thinking shows" amongst the wasteland of useless entertainment.
I'll be sad to lose Jericho...but I am hoping a cable channel picks it up and goes with it. Or, at least some 2-3 hour finale or mini series...Please?
Pretty please with sugar and splenda on top? I'll even add chocolate, whipped cream and a cherry... ok, nuts, too!
Come on!

Note from CBS:
You want closure? Okay, fine. It was, um... the Chinese. With help from, let's say, a rogue faction of the CIA. Yeah, that's it.
As for the love triangles, everyone you like gets married, and everyone you find annoying gets exiled to Shelbyville. One of the brothers becomes mayor, while the other goes off and becomes president and reunifies the country. Which one is which? Whatever... you guys decide. We're going back to work on that Valerie Bertinelli movie.

I gave up on this show after Hawkins pretty much revealed the whole story behind the conspiracy in one episode. That was the only plotline that had my attention, and I didn't really care about the love stories or the "war" with New Bern, or Kingpin Dale...The show took on too many bad mini-plots.
That said, if there was a mini-series/movie to wrap it up, I'd probably watch so that I could say I made a clean break.

I would be happy with a written ending explaining how it would have panned out if it continued; they did a similar thing for Smith which was dropped early in the fall due to ratings not matching expenses. Ideally, I would love a Season 2, and a mini-series would be great as well. I just don't like being in the dark..."why do you build me up, buttercup, baby, just to let me down...."

NOTHING WILL COME FROM THIS!
Stop making it seem like CBS cares, they don't, if they did than there would be at least a 13 episode season 2.
And ABC said the same thing after they completely screwed up Commander and Chief. They were talking about doing a TV movie, that never happened, neither will this.

I would love for it to be a mid-season pick up for one of the new shows that will inevitably fail (maybe ABC will pick it up to replace Cavemen after it dies after 2 episodes...we can still get a full season out of it!!). That being said, I've been in agreement with the idea of a 2 hour movie or a miniseries to close it out. C'mon CBS, hook us up!

A Tv-movie or mini-series would be great, but i would be sweeter if it came in as a mid-season replacement! :D

Her comments are those of a doctor who lost a patient despite a valiant effort, when in fact CBS management murdered this show with the crap weeks-long gaps between new episodes and the mid-season break. Lost can survive this sort of treatment (barely), a new, unproven, and (let's face it) inferior show cannot.

I think even a novel would be nice, anything but a short paragraph saying 'This is what we planned'.
Or, it should end the same way *every* tv series should end. With Bob Newhart waking up next to Suzanne Pleshette saying he just had the most horrible dream.
