(S10E16) After a week of hellish home buying, Bad Guys was a welcome episode of SG-1. I didn't take the plot very seriously - and neither did the entire cast. Most of the performances were a bit over the top - from the hysterical screaming woman to the hero wannabe security guard. Despite being completely unrelated to the current story line, the writers did make some effort to tie things in.
The show was a bit low-brow, but I didn't mind. I'd spent the previous 24 hours trying to figure out what to do when my home purchase (which is now supposedly on again) fell through. Our current house is already leased to another party, and the sudden possibility of relocating my entire family was looming. An easily digestible plot was just what I needed to warm up before watching Atlantis.
The main plot was pretty reasonable, but the supporting plot was just tired. Seriously, how many caches of ancient weapons can they possibly find? If the series ends with another alien weapons find, I'll be pretty disappointed. (Yes, they already aired in the UK, but I've been avoiding them.)
Carter was suspiciously missing from this one - supposedly she's still briefing the President about the alternate reality from The Road Not Taken. (Sigh, another set of out-of-order episodes from the SciFi channel.)
There was one bit of continuity that struck me - and I wasn't even looking for it. Early on, Mitchell tips over the replica DHD. A short while later, it's back in place and all of the loose parts were back in place. Why would they bother to upright it and replace all the keys? It certainly wasn't to avoid detection. When the screamer and her boy toy showed up, they didn't even make an effort to hide.

The end of the show had a bit of a breath holder, but ended predictably. It flowed along pretty well and suffered a level of cheesiness such that I wouldn't have been surprised if an old school Cylon walked around the corner and bopped Teal'c on the head.

This was very disappointing.
Last week's "Bounty" episode was oodles of fun, with great writing and loads of laughs. Nonetheless, I was left wondering what those pesky Ori might be up to -- you remember, those alien religous fantics intent upon subjection of the entire galaxy.
With the series finale looming large on the horizon, and dozens of Ori mega destroyers prowling about in menacing fashion, it would have been really nice -- not to mention long overdue -- to have had an update on that front.
But, nooooooo, we get yet another comedic episode, far less interesting than the last, and frankly, completely apropos to nothing.
Kinda makes the series' cancellation a lot easier to take.
I rate this week a 3.

Two terrible episodes in a row, and it was odd that Sam is in Washington this week. At least they gave an excuse, when Jack was missing they didn't really say anything.
And did Daniel forget about the world they went to that started a nuke war because they visited? I think that one went a little worse.

I feel like the writing team is intentionally squandering the last few episodes that they've got. It seems like they're trying to force us to buy the DVDs that are coming out so we can see the end of the current contrived plotline come to fruition.

Looks like we will get more filler eps b4 the show ends.
But as fillers go this was good dark humor. Sadly SG1 is clicking agian (for the first time) w/o RDA.

I guess I'll bite . . . I thought this episode was pretty funny. Sure, it wasn't up to the level of normal Stargate, and it's kind of odd to have so many "filler" episodes so close to the end of the series, what with all the doom approaching and all, but I had fun, laughed out loud quite a few times, and had fun

The reason there are so many filler episodes heading towards the finale is because the Stargate guys were not aware of the cancellation until towards the end of the season. There aren't alot of main story episodes at the end, but trust me, the story episodes that are coming are pretty good.
