This year, FOX is hoping for a stronger fall season with a shorter baseball hiatus. Instead of 26 game nights, FOX is expecting to air only 14 games leading up to and including the World Series. Once again, FOX's January schedule has FOX poised for a win in ratings with non-stop 24 and renewal of American Idol. One schedule item worth noting is The Sarah Connor Chronicles, based on the Terminator movies. Fox chose to hold it until mid-season because they want a strong female audience, which is something they get when American Idol returns. In: 'Til Death, House, Bones, The Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, American Dad, America's Most Wanted, Cops, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, American Idol, 24, Prison Break,
New: K-Ville, New Amsterdam, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Back to You, Return of Jezebel James, Rules for Starting Over, Kitchen Nightmares, Canterbury's Law, Nashville
Out: The Winner, Standoff, Drive, The War at Home, The O.C., Justice, Happy Hour, The Rich List, Vanished, The Wedding Bells, The Loop
Moving: 'Til Death, Bones (spring)
New Shows:
K-Ville: A drama about cops working in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans.
New Amsterdam: A sci fi/drama about a homicide cop who is secretly hundreds of years old is tired of being alive.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Lena Headey stars as 'Sarah Connor', as in the character from the Terminator movies. The action/drama is about Connor's attempts to prevent the Terminator robots from killing her son.
Back to You: A sitcom starring Kelsey Grammer, Patricia Heaton, and Fred Willard. Grammer and Heaton are reunited as anchors on a Buffalo, NY news desk. Hilarity ensues.
Return of Jezebel James: A comedy about a woman who asks her estranged sister to carry her child. Stars Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose.
Rules for Starting Over: The Farrelly Brothers' comedy about a man who returns to the dating scene after a number of years in a relationship. Co-stars Rashida Jones, who plays 'Karen' on The Office. Fox promises a spring premiere, but currently does not have it on the schedule.
Kitchen Nightmares: Gordon Ramsey returns, this time he's not harassing wanna-be chefs, but he is trying to help failing restaurants survive.
Nashville: Unscripted show about young people pursuing musical dreams in Nashville. From the producers of Laguna Beach.
Canterbury's Law: Stars Julianna Margulies as an aggressive defense attorney who "is willing to bend the law in order to protect the wrongfully accused."
The Search for the Next Great American Band: Same as American Idol, but with bands.

*THE OFFICE SPOILER ALERT* Tonight's season finale of The Office will probably reflect FOX's decision to pick up Rashida Jones' comedy series, Rules For Starting Over, even though it is not on the schedule (it is planned for a spring premiere). The Office reportedly filmed two season finales just in case Rashida's busy next year.

Kitchen Nightmares is a fantastic show...at least the British verison is. I don't know what the US version will be like, but if it's anything like the British one, it'll do just fine.
I think it should be given a different time, however. Fox is going to get horrible ratings in that time slot, without a doubt. It would do better with a Monday, Saturday, or Sunday time slot.

I'm finding it more hilarious that "Wedding Bells" has been labeled "Wedding Balls."

actually re: Rashida Jones the current rumor is that even though she will be starring in TRFSO she will show up on The Office next season just not as a regular.

Its a bit of a shame to see War at home going, i've enjoyed that the last few years. Though it did have a really good series ending i guess.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Fox for finally taking The War At Home out to the barn and putting it out of its misery. Thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Of course, it won't bring back Arrested Development, but it is so nice to see that the show Fox should have canceled in AD's place has finally died.

Hm... let's see... one definite Scifi show and one quasi Scifi show... maybe Fox won't screw them up this time. Though that's wishful thinking.

The Loop...what a shame. It was funnier than anyone ever gave it credit for. Too bad it's over.
And I'm sure there's some technical description for this affliction called "Wedding Balls".

The US version of "Kitchen Nightmares" is gonna suck. It'll be just one hour-long (bleep) from the censors. I *love* The UK version, but even that shown on BBC America sucks.
And thank God that "The War At Home" is finally gone! Having said that, it *really* makes you wonder about the whole TV ratings system - *everyone* I know watched "Veronica Mars", but I've never met *anyone* that watched TWAH.

The War At Home is gone! YES!!!!
And moving Bones is the dumbest thing Fox can do. Let's move it to 9pm on Wednesdays so it's on at the same time as Lost in the Spring? Why not just have the comedies after it? Plus once Spring comes when will Bones be on? 8pm? Stupid Fox.

No surprise, Fox is going to bank on more reality shows. Apparently, Fox is no longer interested in quality television (I'm still bitter over Drive -- can you tell?).
I should be thankful they didn't cancel the two dramas that I like -- Bones and House.

I liked War at Home... most realistic family I think Ive seen on TV lately. Drive was starting to actually become good. Drive, War at home, Veronica Mars, Jericho, Studio 60, etc... damn I really had the touch of death this year... most of the new shows sound really unappealing to me... maybe its time for me to stop watching tv.

OK, seriously, if you're going to give potential spoilers about The Office, how about a spoiler warning somewhere in the post? I didn't expect to be getting spoilers for an NBC show in a post about Fox's upfronts.

Dear 24:
This last year, I've been seeing someone else - Heroes.
I love you, but for this relationship to continue you're going to have to make some changes - like move out of your 9:00 time slot.
Seriously. Two highly rated shows directly competing for the same demographic in the same timeslot.
ABC already moved Lost because of American Idol. Can't someone move their 9 PM show?

The only Fox show I watch is the War at home - so with that gone, I guess there is no need to have Fox on my TV - anything that is new will be gone within 2 weeks so don't even bother watching it!

I just finished watching season 1 (and only) of The Loop on DVD. It was even more hilarious than I remembered. Sad it had to end.

I've kind of figured they'd cancel Standoff when they moved its already-belated April return to the summer, but I'm still bitter about it. And I'm not overly pleased with Bones moving opposite Private Practice, either, since if it moves there's nothing worth watching in the 8 PM slot. But kicking it to Fridays in the spring?! Here's hoping that changes. Say, when some of Fox's decidedly lackluster new shows get canceled early and open up some space earlier in the week.
