(S05E24) This was a bit of a departure in terms of what we've come to expect from a season finale in the world of CSI, be it Vegas, New York, or Miami. I'm not complaining though. This episode felt much more like a wrap up of the fifth season of CSI: Miami and rather than leave us hanging with a ton of questions (there were a few), it left me feeling far more satisfied than I expected. Especially since we can look forward to plenty of new developments in the fall. I actually felt much better that one spoiler which had been floating around, never came to fruition. It appears that the whole mess with Horatio being in a plane crash may have just been an exaggeration of the van crash that did occur in the episode. For once, I was glad we didn't get a grand, nail-biting finale.
Elsewhere, Wolfe was back in the lab. Stetler is keeping a close watch over him and if Wolfe ever expects to get his job back, he's going to have to go through every case he ever had a hand in. All the way back to his patrol days before Horatio recruited him following Speedle's death. It's a tedious and slow story to put Wolfe into. I hope it doesn't keep up once the show returns, but it would be nice to see Stetler have a more frequent role in the next season.
Other things on my mind...
- I liked the case. It was interesting, all that stuff about the extra "Y" chromosome and how it's been referred to as the criminal gene. Having the sister turn out to be just as nuts was a little lame though.
- Now that the season is over, I'm going to ask the question I've already asked about a million times. Why was there no resolution to the "Wolfe makes a documentary" story?
- Oliver from The OC was in this episode! Does Taylor Handley ever play anyone who isn't a sleaze?
- At the end of a long day, does Horatio always climb up to the top of the building and chill out on the heli-pad?
- And what about Supervisor Scot O'Shay? Horatio never nailed him!
So that's it. Season five of CSI: Miami started with a bang when Horatio and Delko made a trip down to Rio to avenge Marisol's murder and it ended on a quiet note. Makes me wonder what's new and in store for the next season. 4 out of 7.

Very lame season finale.
They Wolfe thing is going to drag on too long even if it goes one more episode next year. Wolfe should be gone off the show anyway.
They should have caught that Ed Begley guy as the wrap-up. That would have been cool.
The blond needs to end up with Delko. Bringing that guy back into the pic was lame.
So why do they still do the slow-motion dynamic fly-by of Horatio and his sunglasses? Is that what makes the show the worlds biggest hit? Worked for Baywatch I guess...
I wish Season 6 was about tracking some sort of serial killer or something like they have done on the other CSI shows. Heck, I'd like to see Horatio and Mac do cross-overs from Miami to NY. It would have been fantastic if Horatio had helped to clear Mac from his latest problem, for example. Could have been an excellent 2 parter.

Bleah. I never liked the whole Calleigh-Delko romance subplot this year anyway. For four 1/2 years they showed absolutely NO interest in each other (not even the jokey Catherine-Warwick sort of flirtation) and all of a sudden after he's shot in the head (which, by the way, I STILL don't buy how fast he recovered), now he likes her and she likes him?
It's all so cheesy and manufactured.
This was the worst season of the show yet and I'm happy to see it end. Maybe they can reinvent themselves for next year like pappy CSI did.

I thought this was the worst show of the season. The case was stupid. I think the writers are running out of ideas. I do not like the Delko-Calleigh romance thing at all. They just don't have any chemistry to me.

ok ... so a convict escaped so Delko's first reaction is to get a metal detector? how about the K9 unit?
and what was Horatio doing at the top of that building in the end? (note that is not a helipad ... just the antennae array on the roof)
this episode was very very weak ... it would have made a great filler episode ... but it wasn't finale material IMHO

Next season, they should have a trinity crossover episode. All three shows with the leaders of the teams uniting to find a common killer.

Finale was a bust. I would like to see Horatio do something other than posturing and standing around with his arms akimbo. Earlier years were 200% better than this last season.

I **CANNOT** stand the man who plays Horatio! He stands with his hands on his hips like some "wuss" and his attitude toward the other characters is disgusting: as if only he knows "everything" and everybody else is stupid. He sure makes the cops look less than essential!

As they were panning around the helipad and cutting away to different shots of the CSIs, who was the blonde whose shot came up for about a second and a half? If you blinked, you probably missed her. I had to go back and use my TiVo to see her and even then, I still didn't recognize the woman. Any ideas?
Thank goodness they did not end with some ludicrous cliff hanger. All of the CSI: Miami blogs would have been filled with endless speculation and rumours for the next five months. Besides, the only reason I watch the show is to see David Caruso. Hopefully, the writers will come up with some better story lines for him next season--that is if they don't go on strike as is predicted.

Another episode that made me wonder why I still watch this show. The quality of writing is just so far below CSI it's difficult to believe they're from the same family.
There seemed to be a lot of plot holes and stretches this week, even for CSI: M. How did the Oliver-from-the-OC character know which vehicle to sabotage? Why wander around the woods with a metal detector when you're looking for an escaped prisoner? How could they not know that the two suspects they interviewed spent time in the same prison?
I can live with the cheesey final montage scenes, but why was Hortatio standing on a helipad on some random skyscraper (clearly not the police building we see every week!)
Hopefully next season things will get better, but I won't hold my breath.

The previews of the episode were misleading. I thought because Calleigh was fair haired, that she would have been made a target. On the previews it looked as if she was, because I heard his voice saying she's the one.
I havent watched CSI Miami all season. But when I saw the preview, I said I have to watch it.
I endured one hour of pure torture. What the hell was Delko wearing anyway? (SONNY CROCKETT AND RICARDO TUBBS YOU ARE NOT)
I think that Natalia is a waste of time.
Then it turns out the scene with Calleigh in the elevator was because she got kissed by a guy.
HUH!?
When I saw Horatio on the roof, I thought of Nelly Furtado's "Say it Right" video.
It was misleading. 0 out of 7

'Lame Episode' is a gross understatement! The Calleigh/Eric/Jake thing is a joke meant to add suspense over hiatus. Not working, people.
Don't mind the unresolved issues, provides fodder for next season. But, where's Yelena? Back for 2 episodes, then gone again? And, they could conceivably stretch the Ryan situation for the entire 6th season.
Horatio uptop the building surveying his city, supposedly to tie in the similar posturing at the end of Rio, appears to have been thrown in on the run to acknowledge the season finale. Not working, people.

The plane crash plot, if there ever was one, was a red herring.

Well, it's too bad this was not the final show. If cops lived, dressed, and drove fancy Hummers like these guys and gals do, municipalities wouldn't have such a hard time finding new recruits. And the work place conditions? Give me a break. Not on my taxes. Need a real world look at Miami. Need ugly and poorly dressed cops driving Fords and Chevy's.

Come on guys, get the Calleigh and Eric thing right. She started showing interest in him, so where did this other guy come from by whom she is so smitten, that her and Erics work relationship is now a problem. I the Burn episode, the fact that they worked togather didn't seem to matter when he took the peice of glass from her finger. A look like the one she gave Eric normally says to a guy, my heart awaits you. Not to mention what she said to him while searching for the excapee "You know I trust you with my life". Give the two a chance at romance next year, it would be nice. Also, give us a little insight into the charactors life outside of work, don't these people ever go home?
Pretty bad ending I must admitt. H' on the roof of the building, ment nothing to the episode. Shapen up your penciles guys your losing me.
