NBC released its fall 2007 schedule today. Here's a rundown on what new shows we'll see, when they'll air, and what old shows won't be coming back.
Returning: Friday Night Lights, Law & Order, Law & Order: CI, Law & Order: SVU, Deal or No Deal, 30 Rock, The Office, Heroes, Scrubs, ER, The Biggest Loser, Las Vegas, My Name Is Earl, 1 vs. 100, Dateline, Football Night In America, Medium, and Saturday Night Live.
New: The Bionic Woman, The IT Crowd, Chuck, Journeyman, Life, Lipstick Jungle, The Singing Bee, World Moves, and Heroes: Origins.
Out: Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, Crossing Jordan, The Black Donnellys, Kidnapped, Andy Barker, P.I., Identity, Raines, 20 Good Years, Grease: You're The One That I Want, The Real Wedding Crashers, Thank God You're Here.
Moving: Friday Night Lights moves to Friday nights at 10pm. On Thursdays, 30 Rock moves to 8:30, The Office to 9, and Scrubs to 9:30. Law & Order will move to Sundays at 8pm (in 2008). Law & Order: CI will be on USA Network first, then NBC will air the repeats.
After the jump, a rundown on the new shows and a look at the schedule.
New shows:
Heroes: Origins will be six special episodes of the series, which will air during the show's hiatus. This means the total episode count for the season will be 30!
The Bionic Woman is an updating of the classic ABC show from the 70s. It stars British actress Michelle Ryan.
Chuck is about a computer geek who becomes a spy (somehow). It's produced by Josh Schwartz, who did The O.C., and director McG.
Journeyman sounds a lot like a 21st century version of Quantum Leap. It stars Kevin McKidd from Rome and is produced by some of the people behind The West Wing.
The IT Crowd is a new comedy that focuses on the lives of tech people. Sounds like a nerdier Office.
Life is a drama about a detective who spends years in jail for a crime he didn't commit and is given a second chance. It stars Damian Lewis from Band of Brothers.
Lipstick Jungle is from Candace Bushnell, who did Sex and the City, and sounds similar. It stars Brooke Shields and Kim Raver, from The Nine.
The Singing Bee is another damn singing competition.
World Moves is a hip-hop competition, and is produced by American Idol's Randy Jackson.
Here is NBC's new schedule (which could change before September rolls around):
Monday:
8pm: Deal or No Deal
9pm: Heroes
10pm: Journeyman
Tuesday:
8pm: The Biggest Loser
9pm: Chuck
10: Law & Order: SVU
Wednesday:
8pm: Deal or No Deal
9pm: The Bionic Woman
10pm: Life
Thursday:
8pm: My Name Is Earl
8:30: 30 Rock
9pm: The Office
9:30: Scrubs
10pm: ER
Friday:
8pm: 1 vs. 100/Singing Bee
9pm: Las Vegas
10pm: Friday Night Lights
Saturday:
8pm: Dateline
9pm: Repeats of dramas like Law & Order, etc.
Sunday:
7pm: Football Night In America/Dateline
8pm: Sunday Night Football/Law & Order
Sunday (after football ends):
7pm: Dateline
8pm: Law and Order
9pm: Medium
10pm: Lipstick Jungle
Random notes: Friday Night Lights at 10pm on Friday nights? Sounds logical but I wonder if that time slot will hurt it. The Bionic Woman will also be shown on Sci-Fi Channel, and Life will be shown on Lifetime. Jerry Seinfeld will return to the network, sort of. He'll make 20 "minsodes" of a series that will show him working behind the scenes of that animated bee movie he has coming out later this year. The IT Crowd will premiere midseason. The Apprentice is coming back, but NBC head Kevin Reilly has no idea when or where it will be on the schedule.

On one hand I'm thrilled that FNL is back, but Friday at 10? Thanks for one more season NBC! No way it will survive.
Putting the Office at 9 is an interesting move, I still think it should lead off at 8, because a lot of people will leave at 8:30 when 30 Rock comes on. Great show, but nobody watches it.
Hoping the IT Crowd would make the fall cut.

Here's a note for those wondering about "The West Wing" pedigree of those behind Journeyman. It looks like the show was created by and its pilot written by Kevin Falls, who was one of the more talented non-Sorkins to work on TWW and Sports Night. Alex Graves directed the pilot. No sign of John Wells here!
Sounds promising to me.

NBC once again pulls its best show off the air. First Boomtown, now Studio 60.

Glad Medium made the cut, but I don't see it on their fall schedule. Guess it'll be a midseason starter (like this year) and then they'll be shocked when no one knows about it and thus don't watch it.
I hope The IT Crowd in the US is as brilliantly funny as the UK version. Isn't Morris from the UK version also going to be in the US version?

I predict that Lipshitz Saves The World will be the first one to go.
Leslie Nielsen was really funny in his prime. . . but at 81 YO is an (old) characterture of himself.

The Apprentice is out? Donald Trump is a LOSER because only LOSERS get their shows cancelled! I think Martha Stewart, Rosie O'Donnell and Mark Cuban should get their mugs on every possible entertainment news show and tell their world what a LOSER Donald Trump is. See how he likes it.

The slow, painful death of Scrubs continues for another season... Count me out.

Medium and Law & Order will start on Sundays in January after the NFL wraps up -- without reruns, I'm guessing.
From the looks of Michelle Ryan, Bionic Woman will be a tent pole indeed (if you know what I mean).
The extra Heroes episodes to fill the hiatus gap while the show keeps shooting is exactly what Lost should be doing instead of making only 18 episodes next spring. All the cast and all those resources are on one island, and most characters are only in about half the episodes. The Lost producers should shoot an A crew and a B crew concurrently and have a 32-episode season.

FNL is not a 10 PM show. That's awful that NBC put it there. Especially on a Friday.

I don't watch NBC except for Scrubs.
FNL is about High School Football and on Friday Nights one can go to a Local High School and watch actual High School Football Games.

I called Thank God You're Here. What a bloody awful show.
I have seen the IT Crowd (Brit version), depending on who is in it, it might live. My guess is it will tank.

Bionic Woman? I don't know about that. Journeyman sounds like the next big hit. We'll have to see.

At least Journeyman is a better leadout show for Heros.
I still think Medium and The Bionic Woman should be paired together. Both are about women who are special. I guess NBC isn't that smart. Of course by Friday this schedule will go out the window.

First of all, I will NOT watch a single episode of Journeyman, because it actually sounds kind of interesting but NBC put it in the cursed 10pm Monday time slot so I know it will be yanked prematurely and I don't want to have to go through that frustration again.
Secondly, the IT Crowd with Joel McHale and the original Moss is going to be one of the best shows on TV that noone watches.
Thirdly, a show produced by the OC guy and directed by the Charlie's Angels guy? I hope that Fallout Boy is available to perform the theme song. If not, then they'll have to fall back on their second choice, Fountains of Wayne.
Finally, the FNL time slot switch doesn't bother me in the least, since I never watched it on Wednesdays anyway. The only difference to me is that I'll have to make sure my Tivo is recording the right time.
