Korean pop star Rain, the bane of Stephen Colbert's existence (see video below) is in negotiations to appear in the upcoming Speed Racer film from the Wachowski brothers, the duo behind the Matrix trilogy. Rain will join already-cast Matthew Fox (Lost), Christina Ricci, Emile Hirsch, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon.
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, appeared in the 2006 Korean film I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK (doesn't that sound like a Monty Python song)? He is not officially part of Speed Racer just yet. What's also not clear is how big his role will be.
The movie begins shooting this summer and is slated for release sometime next May.

Colbert's video was hilarious...! I'm sure there'll be a suitable response or appearance on the show from Rain.

That was hilarious. I love Colbert.
But seriously, ihas anyone even heard of Rain outside of his Korean fanbase? I mean, I'm korean-american so I know of him but I haven't exactly heard him tearing up the US pop charts. How does he get all those votes?

I was sooooooo excited when I heard the news that RAIN might be joining the cast. I also thought the Colbert video was hilarious...I am a Puerto Rican-American and have known about Rain for a while now...I have even met him three times in the States and I wish him the best... He's a good performer all around. Can't wait for him to release an album in English so that he can be in the US pop charts. For know I'll keep enjoying his music in Korean & Japanese and sing along even when I can't understand...RAIN ROCKS!!! (^_-)v
