(S03E18) "Don't tell me you whack off to The Warriors..." -Ari
One of the things that's impressed me about this second half of Entourage's third season, is the way the show has grown. It's evolved into something much more than just a comedy program full of fart and boob jokes. Even the episodes that aren't loaded with the funny can still be excellent and this installment was no exception. To see where our four main characters were once at and where they've ended up is just very cool to watch. Drama's personal growth has been something of a hardship (that's putting it lightly) and to see him finally achieve success is immensely rewarding for a viewer.
Of course, even "victory" has to be a huge ordeal for Drama. From his hour-long unsuccessful rub n' tug, to the storming of the Variety offices, to his drunken bender at the edge of the Grand Canyon, nothing ever comes easy for this guy. Then over 16 million people watched Five Towns. I think Vince, E, and Turtle better get used to not having breakfast prepared for them every morning because Drama is about to get very busy.
Carrying equal weight in this episode was Vince and Eric's continued efforts to land Medellín. Ari even went as far as to bring in Joe Roberts, the same guy that offered Vince Matterhorn a few years ago. Well... Matterhorn never got made. The catch? You can't have one without the other. Vince eventually just bought Medellín for himself for only $5 million. Good deal, right?
So now him and E just became producers. Joe made a point to say something to Vince though and I think it may be my favorite Entourage moment ever. He compared Vince's passion and insane devotion to this project to Coppola when he made Apocalypse Now. If you need to see what Joe is talking about, go rent Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse. It's a incredibly good documentary about the making of Apocalypse Now and how it almost destroyed Coppola. To be honest, I hope Vince gets that crazy. Could make for some great episodes.

Turtle gets a girlfriend? What?!? Well, I suppose she is the only girl for him. Loves shoes as much as he does. ("She's me with tits!")

Nice turn by Michael Hitchcock as the Variety critic that trashed Drama's performance.

NBC did give Joey 46 episodes! Damn...
So now what? Is Vince really going to sell the house? Because this whole Medellín thing has serious potential to break him. Emotionally and monetarily. Looks like Drama might become the Chase family breadwinner for a while. 6 out of 7.

Personally, I'm not enjoying the departure from comedy. I can't say the show actually interests me all that much dramatically. At this point it's just lifestyle porn with one decent joke and one decent Ari rant per episode.

About time we got to see Drama be successful. Imo he's the heart and soul of the show.
Btw, I read that the show is now more about Doug Ellin's life rather than Mark Wahlberg's, so maybe that's why they are giving E and Vince a chance to be producers? (Doug Ellin is the producer, so maybe more of his life experiences will be on display?)

I love that Drama finally got some success! I agree with Borat, he is the heart and soul of the show/group. I feel kind of lame for being really happy for the guy, but it's been 3 years coming.
& personally, I like the small departure from just the comedy. I like the "drama" the show has been giving us lately.

Great episode in not only its totality but all the individual parts.
I particularly liked Drama going the Rub & Tug and seeing all kinds of guys coming and going. That is so Hollywood.
Also, Vince becoming a producer makes a lot of sense. I think it is going to serve as the basis for many interesting plots.

The bit with Joey getting 46 episodes was hilarious when you look how quick they cancell shows now.
Joey is to blame why kidnapped, the black donnelys, and studio 60 didn't make it. Damn you Joooooooooeeeeey!!!

@ Borat. You're right about the show FINALLY following into the mold of being about E and not Vince. The show was created by Doug Elin and simply in the title itself, this show was always suppsoed to be about the people surrounding a star, not the star himself. I think that somewhere early on though, HBO execs realized that the alure to this show was the look into the lifestyle and not neccesarily the characters. I'm VERY VERY happy to see this show grow to the potential I believe the creators intended for it. After all, in the opening credits Kevin Connoley does get top billing over Adrien Grenier.

Yes it's more about Drama (the guy not the mood of the show) and yes it's been slightly more of a drama (the mood of the show not the guy), but it is still a good show, great writing, great pacing, and we care about the characters, so Vince's project will have lots of ups and downs, and yada yada, but its not WHAT happens, its WHO it happens too, and how well written it is...at least for this show.
