To a good portion of us both The Flintstones and The Jetsons were mainstays of our afterschool and Saturday morning television viewing. However, back in the 1960's both of these Hanna-Barbera creations were part of the ABC prime-time lineup. The Flintstones were a mainstay on the schedule from 1960 until 1966 while The Jetsons appeared in only the 1962-63 season.
Of course, being on the prime-time schedule there was bound to be some promotion of both shows. And, that's what you'll see after the jump: promotions for both The Flintstones and The Jetsons during their first run. Both of these clips are in black-and-white, even though both shows were produced in color. The Flintstones' promo is for the show's fourth season. The episode featuring Ann-Margret as Ann Margrock was the season premiere. Yes, Virginia, stars lent their voices to cartoons long before The Simpsons.
By the way, as a bit of trivia, the fourth season of The Flintstones introduced viewers to Barney and Betty's little boy, Bamm-Bamm. This was also the season where Fred has the nightmare that Pebbles marries Arnold, the paperboy. I always loved that episode because it showed how Fred thought he and the Rubbles would look as old people.

I used to love watching the original 60's version of The
Flintstones, even when the show was on Superstation
TBS every afternoon from 3:35PM to 4:35PM. Today,
it can be seen on Boomerang Network, a sister Cartoon
Network channel I still don't get after 12 years. Anyway,
there's 2 promos that aren't included on any indivisual
DVD sets of The Flintstones & The Jetsons. It's really
fastinating what you'll find in the Hanna Barbera volts.
Speaking of The Flintstones, the next DVD series of them
I'd like to see is either "The All New Fred & Barney Show",
or the 90-Minute version that aired from 1980 to 1982
on Saturday Morning, "The Flintstones Comedy Show"
(not the 1973-'74 skit version). This series had about
6 cartoon segments, including Captain Caveman, The
Bedrock Cops, Dino & Cavemouse, and The
Frankenstones (spun off from a 1979 TV Special).
If these later Flintstones cartoons are in development,
please let me know. I'd buy the complete 6-Season set
of The Flintstones' classic episodes, but I heard that
The Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm Show is being considered
for a future DVD release. They're getting close, but I
prefer the 2'nd voice of Fred Flintstone better than Alan
Reed's voiced character, plus Alan Reed was also heard in
The Pebbles & Bamm Bamm Show as Fred, although I
loved Sally Struthers as Pebbles' voice in there, too.
