Last month, I mentioned that some rumors were floating around about a possible Simpsons movie ride at Universal Studios. According to a recent interview with Simpsons writer Matt Warburton over at TV.com, it's true. Warburton was rather coy about what the ride would consist of, but he says he is writing for it and that it will be "cool."
Earlier rumors claimed the new ride, allegedly titled "Travel with Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie" would be a motion-simulation ride in which a "car" twists and moves along with an animated film to give the feeling of actual movement. One assumes that's probably going to be the case since I can't imagine how someone would "write" for any other kind of ride.

They got rid of BTTF for this?
Bastards - I was at Universal Florida the other week (3 weeks too late to get on the ride) & Doc Brown was driving round on his time bike, looking a bit lost.
Next year I guess I'll be punching Homer

I got to visit Universal a few days before Back To The Future closed. They definitely should have just refurbished BTTF a bit and kept it. They could still add a Simpsons ride if they wanted. There's plenty of room between BTTF and Men In Black.

It makes no sense for Universal to get rid of the best ride they have ever had -- basically the best ride ever made -- the back to the future ride. Why can't they keep this ride and add the simpsons ride. I wish more people would protest and i hope everyone here who reads this will post at how much fun the Back to the future ride is. www.bttf.com.

Maybe it's because I don't have any childhood memories of the ride, but I went to universal for the first time last summer and got to go on the BTTF ride. Might I add that as a 23 year old, I've seen those movies so much and love them (well, maybe not the third so much), but that ride was awful. Paint was coming off everywhere, everything looked like it was from 1992, and it was just a boring ride. Star tours has aged much better than the BTTF ride. Though it cannot be made as fun as the spiderman 3-D ride without demolishing the whole thing and building a new one, I'm sure the simpsons ride could be much more entertaining.
